I think you are absolutely right. I told her that I need to buy a few things for the bike this month and asked her if she could take on a few extra photo sessions and her response was don't complain that I have to work a few more hours. Gotta love that. I only wish the first wife was that way instead she spent all the money I brought home.

Went to Home Depot to pick up some supplies for some orders and I stopped by the hardware aisle to grab some nice new nuts and bolts and changed out all of the front motor mount bolts. Went by the plumbing aisle looking at some pipe and ran across something that I thought would work to compress the springs and broke the SOB.

I went to autozone to look at their loner tools and they wouldn't loan me a tool I thought could work so I guess I have to buy a spring compressor unless anyone has a way to do it without it.

Other than that I am waiting on the Busa upper triple to arrive to see if it can be customized to fit.

So holding me up is the rear springs and that upper. Still putting off the paint.

Also waiting on a response to come up on a 78 750. Trade for TV can't beat that. Running and titled. Looks pretty good too.

Does anyone think that this would be a good set up on bars? I got the Hayabusa upper triple to day. Its going to need some fabrication but I think it would be a great set up for the bars.

Anyone want to give it a try? I think it would work with some kind of adapter plate attaching to the upper triple.

Or does anyone know if there are bars that will fit this way? Not sure but maybe drag bars? I have no experience with them at all.

following this build closely also as we have the same year/model bike.

can you give a bit more explanation on the 500t tank and what mods you did to mount?  I love the knee dents because they aren't exaggerated and reminds me of older bmw r75/80 which is the look i'm going for.  i reupholstered my seatpan and i'm just wondering if i need to mod my seat or not cause i really don't want to.

thanks!

It's a great aesthetic upgrade to the bike. I had to cut about a 1/4 inch off each side of the front mounts and rubbers but I have yet to mount the back of it yet. The tank is about 2 inches longer than the original so I am going to have a plate that lifts it about 1-2 inches in the rear, this same mount will also be the mount for the front of the seat pan. One thing that has to be taken into consideration is that the petcock will be interfering with the carb and that's another reason it has to sit higher. I'm pretty sure that you would have to modify the seat pan though.

Anyone interested in finishing this up? My family came upon a couple months of hard times and I need to pay my bills. I hate to sell but I really have no choice.

Make an offer.

David

David,
Really sorry to hear that.  The project looks good.  I hope someone offers you an appropriately fair price.
