1978 cb750k - K&S 12-0040 Switch Question
« on: December 25, 2011, 05:46:52 PM »
Hello,

I have recently purchased a K&S 12-0040 switch assembly and have had 99% success installing it.

I have all of the wires accounted for but the turn signals only stay on and do not flash.

The gray winker switch wire that ran into the stock assembly is the only wire unaccounted for on the new switch.

Does anyone know anything about this switch or to which cable I should attach the winker wire?

There are the following wires:

Headlight - Main
Headlight - High Beam
Headlight - Low Beam
Turn Signal - Main
Turn Signal - Right
Turn Signal - Left
Horn - Ground
Horn - Main
Parking Light
Kill Switch - Main
Kill Switch - Ground

Of course, the directions I received do not make reference to the flasher/winker relay wire or how to correctly install it.

Any insight is greatly appreciated!!!!

Thank You,
Chris

First, the kill switch does not have a ground wire, so the 2 wires on the k/sw. ( whatever colors they are ) need to connect one to Black in h/l bucket and the other to Black/White in H/l bucket.
The  'Turn Signal- Main ' needs to connect to the Grey ( from flasher relay ).... looks like you have it to Black right now........ g'luck  ;)
If your sure it's a carb problem; it's ignition,

Hello,

I tried connecting the "turn signal main"  = brown and white wire, to the gray wire and the turn signal lights still illuminate but no flash.

i have contacted K&S but still no response...any other ideas?

Thanks,
Chris

If the turnsignals operate correctly but don't flash , normal brightness etc., when connected to the grey wire, then the flasher relay is bad or you don't have one ! ( or bypassed )....... ?
