I will be picking up a cb125 in the next few weeks.  Turns out my uncle had this bike and parked it in my Gpa's garage in 1983 when he was a senior in high school and it has never moved since.  I didn't even know it was there until Xmas and my uncle wanted to know if I wanted to have it.  It is missing the tank and seat though.  The motor is free.  I will post some pics once I pick it up.

His threads are my inspiration.  I don't know if I will cafe the bike though.  It may be just a resto.

Well I got my 125 last weekend.  Turns out it is a 1974 CL125s. 

The good:
The bike has about 135 psi of pressure so it should be fine.
Clean title
Side covers were in great shape.

The bad:
I am in need of either a cb or cl tank.
CB or CL seat.
The carb slide is locked solid.  Anyone know a way to break it free.  I having it soaking in a carb bath right now.

      PBBlaster will do it. I have a decent used carb I can let you have for $12 w/ slide for my past CB125.

Well the slide broke free after I removed it from the carb dip.  I will keep you in mind if somehow this one doesn't work out.

After some tinkering and rebuilding the carb the bike is finally running.  Now to tear it down and start cleaning it up a bunch more.

I did check the valves and clean the oil screen.  I used oil from my 600rr race bike because i am taking the motor out of the frame to clean and repaint everything.  I do need to adjust the cam chain though and readjust  the valves since the intake was a little loose before getting it going again.  The bike will need a new exhaust.  The muffler has separated at the seam on the top.  You should have seen the old mouse nest and poo that came out of the muffler.

That's the O.E. CL125 exhaust on there,right? maybe you could have someone weld it up and find a baffle that would be similar to the original so you wouldn't have to re-jet the carb..or Ebay;those Original Cl125 exhaust's are very rare indeed.

Yeah it is the original exhaust.  I may see if I can find a buddy that has a welder.  I cannot find a CL125 exhaust anywhere not even a Chinese knockoff.

With a a good bit of research &...some trial & error you'll be able to get a certain kind of Repro. baffle(maybe find a pic off of a parts diagram ?)or close match to fit in the end to gain all the low end & midrange power w/ similar jetting.

No 6v lights that I can see.  What is everyone else using for 6v cafe tail light?

Voltage is all in the bulb itself!  Get whatever light assembly floats yer boat, then swap in a 6-volt bulb from the local autozone.

Got my 125 mostly together besides the lighting.  I got it running but it is running very rich.  I am running a pod filter and an open header.  The main jet is a 105, but stock is 98.  Does anyone know where to find a 98 jet?  I thought I found one on ebay but it turns out it is for a cl125a and won't work for with the 1973 cl125 carb.

no main jets listed on JetsRUs.  Would a main jet for a cb175 work?

Does anyone have a cl125 or cb125 carb that I can borrow?  My bike will only run full choke and runs very rich as well.  I have tried cleaning everything out and tried to find a vacuum leak to no avail.  I just need to rule out things.  If you have any advice I would be grateful.

I never found a decent 6v tail light but searching ebay it seems there is more out there then a few years ago. Some scooters were 6v also golf carts and some old cars. Is this a cafe a restore?

As for the carb. how is your float level? Are the flaots leaking? Every 125 i have taken apart had bad floats. That will make your bike run rich for sure.

Thanks for the exhaust info.  I will be on the look out some more.

I will look into the other 6v options.  It is for a cafe style bike since everything was missing except for the frame, wheels, and motor.

I did fix the carb float with some JB weld on one lobe.  Works now.  I figured out the problem last night.  The timing plate was put in 180* out of phase.  I am surprised that bike even ran with it like that.
