Information re. this 550 racer?
« on: December 28, 2011, 06:11:50 AM »
Does anyone recognize or have any information on this bike that they are able to share?  It was referenced in a forum post recently but I am having difficulty re-locating it.

Thank you,
Scott

Hi Scott, TG posted photos & an article of this bike from an Italian mag a couple years ago. (believe it was 650) I'll go search around for it.

Cheers Brent!  I'll use your TG tip to keep narrowing the search as well.

Experimental CB500R engine with 3 valves/cyl. Last was 749.35cc. Not reliable. Ridden by the late Morio Sumiya.
Better sorry for failing then for the lack of trying.

Well its certainly the perfect time of year to research, make inquiries, perform a thorough inventory check, and plan.

IMHO that bike has one of the nicest most aggressive stances of the day...until the TZ750 hit the scene.  A one-off frame set, swingarm and tank would set the stage.  The remainder would be pretty much parts bin unless one made the decision to tackle the dry clutch and other Honda special bits (way too much $$$$). I'm thinking base it around a nice performance 550 motor and go from there.

Too enticing not to at least investigate the effort.  Thoughts?

Cheers,
Scott

I agree with your comment on the stance, it's a real hot tamale. First visual cue of something special for me is that frame/tank/sexy sweeping pipes. Those are expensive items too, but man I'm behind you....go for it.  ;D
