cb125S overvoltage?
« on: January 17, 2012, 12:39:13 PM »
grcanna, I did order a manual but it isn't here yet. Just thought I would post and update to my problem from before.

Got a new condenser in today. I installed it to see if it would do anything. At first no spark, then after fumbling around a bit i managed to get spark (didn't really do anything specific that made the spar all of a sudden though). I tightened the plug and it fired up. Still was stumbling for the first couple of revs, and then all of a sudden it reved up perfectly. After a few revs to see if it would stay good, i noticed my headlight was really bright, i reved it and my headlight burned out  ???
Then I switched to high beam, reved it and it burned that out on the first rev. Engine continued to run well. I had the seat off and looked down, (my battery box is minimal and quite open) and noticed that if I reved it, at the peak and on the way down i could see a spark or two occuring inside the battery.....

I should have my manual in a day or two to begin troubleshooting, but does this sound like anything specific to anybody? I thought the battery acted as the voltage regulator on this motor? (battery is new with only 2 hours of runtime on it)

I'd say defective battery.  Shouldn't be ANY sparkin' goin' on, no matter WHAT.

I was thinkin the same, would really hate to have it blow up under my arse. Battery holds a charge though, seems to be otherwise good... but it is a cheap one from ebay, guess thats next on my buy list. Good yausa this time.
