I feel a bad for Chris V.  and Hopkins.  Suzuki just can't get a GP bike together.  Looking at their success in other classes, it's hard to understand.  Put those guys on Hondas and they'd be up front every week.

Nicky is a great guy and I really root for him, but I think this is Rossi's year again.  If it comes down to the last race at Valencia and it's a winner-take-all race, barring an unforseen wreck or mechanical trouble, there's no way I think Hayden would beat him heads up.  There's just too much experience, cunning, and Italian mojo at work.

But if  Rossi wins, and only by the extra points he got in error last week, it will be a real tragedy for Hayden. Hasn't Rossi signed up for another year on two wheels?

Agreed. And yes, Rossie did sign with Yamaha for the 07 season. Just a one year contract, I think there is an option for a second year though.


I read an article somewhere in the last couple of months that traction control is likely to start appearing in WSB in the next couple of seasons as well. It's a slippery slope. You have to balance exitement for the fans vs. safety for the riders. These bikes make so much power now and have so much grip that one mistake could be very literally fatal. And nobody goes to the races to see that. (The time I finally talked my wife into watching the Daytona 500 with me Dale Earnhardt died. She hasn't watched a race since.) This is one of the reasons that MotoGP has been considering DROPPING the displacement to 800cc. Though, I am not sure if that decision has been made.

All that said... There is no denying Rossi's skill. They don't call him the Doctor for nothing!

A done deal on both counts. WSB has traction control now and the MotoGP bikes next year will be 800cc. They are testing today in Motegi.

Traction control has been legal in WSB, and BSB for a while now. It was just illegal in the AMA Superbikes. It was finally legalized in the US at some point after the Laguna round.

Rossi is awesome. If Nicky doesn't pick it up for the last two rounds, the Doctor will win again.

I'm pulling for the Kentucky Kid. Looks like he not only got held back by a bad start but wasn't quite as fast today. Next 2 races should be interesting. Don't like yellow bikes anyway. All of us crazy Kentucky #$%*ers stick together. Most people just don't understand. How would you say viva la Hayden in Italian?

I just got back from the AMA Superbike Shootout at Mid-Ohio.  It was the last race of the season and there was some great action on sunday.  Mladin took first in the race but his team partner Ben Spies won the championship.
It was a #$%*ty weekend with Saturday was completely rained out.  Only a couple of classes got to practice for a few minutes.  There was even a tornado along with hail that ripped through the camp site that same night.  Sunday was great, nothing but sunshine and a lot of racing until dark.
Was any one else from this forum there?  In the midst of all the plastic I did see a few Honda fours, CL's, and a handfull of nice old Suzi's, Yami's, and Kows.

I thought that the factory-riders boycott of the heat events was interesting, making it so that the first three rows on the grid were all privateers. It was a recipe for disaster but the pro's got through without incident.

Interesting that Ducati is not running a team next year. All the money is probably going in to the new MotoGP bike.

Two races left. Can V.Rossi snipe the championship, or will it be only down to a monumental misfortune overtaking N.Hayden, such as falling off or a mechanical problem??

Rossi pretty much has it in the bag, doesn't he?  I'd say bad luck might be the kicker, here.

Ten or eleven points in two races.........hmmmmmmmm. Rossi has shown that he has the brilliance to do what ever is necessary to win, like when he had a 10 second penalty given in a race so just ramped it up for the rest of the race to win by 10 seconds plus.

However, much as I would like him to win, I think that this is going to be Haydens year. Barring Murphys Law, of course. Honda seem to be pulling out all the stops to help him with up to the minute updates to the motorcycle, so it's in his hands now.

Sorry mate, I forgot about that, and you're right of course, I've seen pics of lots of soulless wenches on the net, ha ha!

Oh, and I hope Valentino wins again this year, I watched him win the 125 GP at Phillip Island last time I went, (geez that was a while ago!) and it was a joy to watch him.

The thing that I love about him (in a manly way, of course) is witnessing how much he loves what he does, he is a natural entertainer, and I reckon he loves racing as much as we love watching him!

He'll do for me until the two Aussies (Casey and Chris) get enough experience to take over the mantle. Cheers, Terry.

It is about time we saw an Aussie in winning ways. But I don't think it will happen for either Casey or Chris unless they get the very best ride.

I've been pretty much out of the loop on all kinds of TV happenings lately so I really haven't been up to the minute concerning the Rossi/Hayden issue, but man, Rossi just seems to be the bike as opposed to riding it.  Like Terry said, he just loves riding/racing.  We'll just have to wait and see I guess....

of course, I'll probably miss it
