hmmmm.  on my 76 CB750F I did the DOHC swing arm install complete with the Showa shocks off the donor bike.  I run a full Vetter Windjammer 3 with lowers on my bike.  The extra 2 inches of the new swinger have added more stability to the bike in the wind.I dont know why, it just does.  Bike still corners great.  2cd best improvement i have done to the bike.  First was the new braided stainless brake lines.

My longer lowered bike was far more stable, you can let go of the bars and it just went straight.. right down to 10 or 15 mph..
I really doubt that a lot of us  would hate the difference, unless you are doing canyon carving 90 % of tthe times.
I think as long as you are shorter than a Rocket 3, you are golden..

Terry,a local guy here has a carburated v-twin, that made more hp and torque than your three (on its first pull).. added  a small dose of nitrous, it ran 200 into the time trap, ate a piston and coasted out at 190mph on the great white dyno..... I think he got his aero right.. not bad for a first try..

Yeah, 2 years ago I stretched a 550 swingarm out 2 inches and had a set of forks 4 inch extended. It rides low and straight .The only problem was the fender mount bolts scrubbed on bumpy roads. The ride is better with the lay-down shocks,I like it. I cut the swingarm just past where the gusset starts midway the shock mount to keep it straight, inserted a smaller tube inside and the same size tube outside lined up the gussets and welded it solid then filled in the gusset. This won't get you a fatter tire, but it's a nice alteration.

cool. I bought a donor swingarm and cut 3" off of the front , where the piviot is" , notched it to a half circle and added it to the front of the orig swing. welded it all the way around then added a 1/8" plate to the bottom to overlap the seam...should strong enough..
