CB750K2 wiring problem
« on: January 01, 2012, 01:10:29 PM »
So I'm in the headlight plugging everything up. I've found a home for everything except one lonely yellow male. Any suggestions?

The K3 has a yellow male with red stripe. You talking about that one?

Nope, that one had a home.

I may actually have a K1 harness. Bit of a hybrid.

Is it an aftermarket harness?  The K1 diagram on www.oldmanhonda.com shows yellow for the 2.3 points, the three alternator wires and the rear brake switch.  None of these pass thru the bucket.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

No I got it from Yamiya. Or I guess that's aftermarket, but as close to OEM as you can get. It has the singe fuse box so that's a K1 i think.

As to the function of the yellow, that's what i thought. But there it is.

Along with the harness came three jumpers. All about 4 inches long. all with female ends on them. A bk/w which had a home. A yellow one which I'm suspicious is part of my puzzle. And another color i forget at the moment.

My tail, fr brake, and Headlight all work. I'll hook up the rear brake and see.

Could be. I remember my Clyners has a schematic for a German bike. Didn't notice if it had one for a Jap domestic.

But like Old School mentioned yellow is primarily for the 2-4 points, alt wires, and the re brake lite. I'll check all of their functions and if OK, it may simply be a left over. There is a female brown wire as well, with no home. But i think that one is to be expected.

Lights are working yeah! I got a Off/Low/High switch (K2 had just the Lights On switch) and my off function works OK.

TS don't work but i'm sure it has to do with using LED lights. I'll have to call the supplier. i think i need a different flasher or such.

There's an idiot light that's yellow? Curious which it may be.

I am converting to K1 instruments, with the lights in the instruments. So I no longer have the panel. My neutral and oil light work. I didn't check the Hlite hi beam. And the TS don't work yet.

Thanks for helping. Forgive me, I'm not understanding.

I should have said, Which indicator light on the panel does the yellow wire go to?

The only U.S. spec. 750 harness that has a solid yellow wire in the h/l bucket is the harness for a 750A. The yellow wire is from the fuel sender and goes to the fuel guage in the r/hand 'clock'...
If you had a 750A loom tho', you would also have extra wires around the motor area for the changing relay etc. ( stuff a reg. 750 doesn't have )....... You bought the harness from Yamiya a Japanese company, so putting 2-and-2 together, my bet is still that 'shift now' economy light thing  ;)

Spanner, thanks. That's my suspicion. Or something like that, that is not of use to me. I'll be checking each item and if everything works, then I won't worry.

Kevin: No, but I haven't looked since I asked the question. maybe tonight if i get the domestic chores done.

The left side - INDICATOR or TURN light. This has a solid YELLOW wire (and another) leadign to the bulb. Inside the birdsnest, is another yellow leading to it. I can't say this is normal...and glancing at the wiring schematic for K2 - which mine most closely resembles,..shows this wire more like an orange or similar. But mine is without doubt YELLOW. Mine has a new (2 yr old) loom but the wiring from idiot dash etc is all old...original.

Ah thanks! Good clue. Orange I think is the left side winker. I'll track the idiot wire out of my speedo and see if it has a home. Wimkers aren't working yet, need something else to get the LEDs to fire.

its probably winker related.

Thanks again.
