thanks cd.  yea its nice having being able to drive it now and working on the things that come as a result of that as opposed to working towards that point

update still trying to get everything sorted out.  i set the points timing tonight.  also had issues with my starter relay i put in i replaced that.  the wires coming from fuse box also have been inconsistent.  i think i got it close to narrowed down but had me stuck for a while.  thinking of replacing the points with electric, anyone have opinions good or bad for it or any recommendations on where to buy from?
also think i have a coil issue.  cyclinder 1 and 4 werent runnin like they should. after timing 4 seems better.  i think now 4 and 2 might be running right, 3 is way to hot and 1 isnt doin #$%*.  checked compression and its all good there.  could be a carb issue.  the carb that leads to 1 was the one that was leaking for awhile, now its not leaking, but i feel like setting that float right shouldnt have been such a pain.
also my brake caliper is driving me nuts.  ive taken it apart and cleaned it a couple times now.  and a couple times since then ive lost all my front brake at first i thought i got air in it somehow maybe on to steep a hill and the fluid was low and it sucked up air. now tonight i lost it and parked and found im leaking fluid out the caliper by the pistons all over the disk.  anyone have suggestions on fixing it? a caliper rebuild kit maybe?

anywayss its getting there, its an old bike its gona have its issues and this one is no different im trying to just work out all the little things... hoping they dont get to expensive in the process.

Going with electronic ignition will be the best First step you can make for getting the performance issues worked out.
I get allot of my stuff from:
http://www.power-barn.com/servlet/the-Vintage-cln-Electrical/Categories
Ask for Mike and tell him you want Dyna ignition, Coils & lead wires.

I can help with your brakes; I supply Updated rotors, Brake pistons, Rebuilt calipers & more:

Dynatek Coil, 3 Ohm, 12V, Angled Dual output.
Dynatek 8mm Suppression Wire Plug set.
Dyna S Electronic Ignition.

You want to do the hole conversion at once.
Running Dyna Coils off the old points unit is like hitching a manure wagon to a thoroughbred racehorse.

ordered  bunch of parts... coils, dyna s, wires, brake pads, caliper seal, and some carb gaskets.  coils, seal, and gaskets came so some work to be on it hopefully by this weekend then the rest will be in.  carbs keep leaking think its  float bowl level thing, but idk.  seems like that level is awefully finicky.  gonna go through and clean and check them again.
and not really related but i think rear sets will be  a future mod, i just want like 1inch more clearence, the footpegs have scraped on a couple turns now and it kinda makes me nervous.

did my brakes last night, dissassmbled and cleaned everything, the piston looked good and the seal didnt look to bad either there was just a lot of gritty gunk. replaced the seal and the pads. seems good now. what pads do you guys use? i wanted dunlpads but it doesnt look like they have them for my bike.  i just got parts unlimited brand, real cheap and i wasnt sure it wouldnt leak again and i didnt wana ruin new pads

Might try these guys http://www.cbdecals.afegraphics.com/ or these but I understand you have to contact them as they don't list Honda stuff anymore because Honda made them take it down.  www.reproductiondecals.com  Their are others and one that I can't seem to find at the moment that has all the tank pinstripes.

been my daily rider for awhile now.  runnin a ittle rich.  went to mid ohio vintage days this past weekend.  had fun got new projects more on that later. got decals too! anyways got a set of carbs for 12bucks and after looking at quite a few other in person i realized my current set was missing parts.. partly why its been so hard to tune.  so im rebuilding this new set that without touching already look pretty good. then when theyre done ill swap em.

my bike started acting up on me. itd start fine then 2 blocks down the road it would stall out. so i figured i should clean out and start work on those other carbs.  i dissassembled and cleaned everything then replaced all the rubbers and jets.  now i got it in them and i cant get the bike to run.  it starts up but its revving really high and the adjustment screw int helping any.  i can get the rpms lower but then the engine dies.  even if i let rev high for a bit it dies out after a min or two. ... frustrating.  gona take the carbs back off go through make sure i didnt miss anything clean em maybe somthing is clogging in the main jets, or theyre just way off tuned.. gona go back through and redo all the steps.

just an little update.been awhile. been giving me a little bit of issues.  my fuses are getting like burning hot, not blowing any but very hot to the touch and very hit or miss on whether electrical stuff works.  like headlght taillight.   got to wiggle the fuses to work and ive cleaned the connections and checked the wires and done a few check up stuff on it.  i think i have a couple ideas as to what the issue might be just updating where im at.  i wana get this taken care of then focus on the cosmetic stuff again, seat pad, paint tail and tank, maybe change some other things, lookin at the forks i like the exterior spring forks look.  but thats kinda just afterthoughts right now

You may need to run a separate power source for that light; The problem is that the late model & F has the power running threw the start button to act as a momentary over ride cut off during starting. this puts an extra load on that part of the system.

so trying to make some things a little smoother and more correct and less rigged together. i was running a rigged up killswitch and starter button, looked cool but didnt work smooth all the time. like you pointed out godffrey, with the momentary override cut off the way i had it rigged it wasnt doing that.  so im cleaning up and replacing some electrical junk. i feel like i keep bouncing all around fixing little here little there so im trying to focus on tackling each thing fully before moving on... no big deal right? so anyways im looking for a right hand switch controls for now.

its been a little bit since i updated this i got it pretty much sorted. it runs good with just the constant normal maintenance.  i got a new job with a 75 mile commute each way and i was riding this most of the fall.  its that time of year with the snow and mess so im trying to clean up change up make it nice nice.  i got a nicer pair of forks that need seals then theyll be switched over, needs new air filter, and im cleanin up the tank, i got these cool little honda wing badges im going to add to it and paint the tank and seat and hopefully get the seat a nice new apolstered seat pad so ill try and add the updates as they come

Few updates from the winter..  made a seat pan, took some foam from an extra yamaha seat cut it down shaped it, wrapped and stitched it myself. First time ive ever tried to sew anything and i think it turned out pretty good. I got a 750f roller from another member here and swapped the forks and painted the lowers black, and also did new seals. The original  550 forks were good just the uppers the chrome was pretty rusted. also bought some raask rearsets from a member here. the right side bolted on perfect the left was tricky. it looked like po cut the brake pedal in half so i left it half cut and added a little pedal to it and built a simple bracket to hold the peg. Works with kickstarter. i filled the tank where the badges use to be and quickly primed it as well. I have some awesome honda wing badges im going to place there and it still needs paint.  thats where its at for now.
