Topic: Question about front end swap

I know people have posted stuff about this a million times. But....

I want to do a front end swap on my 73 CB 750. Mostly for the double disc. Im looking for a GSXR front end.. But what are your opinions?

Ive seen something about guys just adding a disc to the existing wheel.. What do you guys think? I want it to be nice. But Im seeing this front end swap could get expensive.. And if I get a front end obviously Im going to need a rear wheel to match which looks like it could be interesting?

Why don't you just source a gl1000 front end it will bolt right up and you'll have your double disk set up. You can even get aftermarket disks to make it look spiffy.

First front end swap on one of these.. Trying to find out the best way..

The easiest way to get dual discs is to add one to your stock front end. Most of the modern front ends have much less offset in the triples, which limits steering travel due to interference with the gas tank.

Thats what my brother is doing on his '81. I wanted something with a little better forks maybe. These forks off the CB's are not too impressive.. Not much too them, but then again.. It was 1973 at the time

Agreed, the stock Honda forks aren't the best dampers. However, if you want to use more modern forks, like the GSXR units, plan on spending more dollars for custom triples.

 There is a TL front end in for sale, not sure if that is a good choice or not..

It is not to say that a front swap will make it a better responding bike. There is much more to it. Even the Honda front can be tailored so it will work, much, better. Common 'mistake' is that one think that swapping for something more modern will turn it into a modern style behaving bike, well that does not work. Like you said it was the 70's.
Gl front swap is a well known one, although you will need to 'tune' in spring and damping.

I found a few GL front ends maybe I'll go that route.. I could always switch it out again later on if I feel like it..............

I did the GL front end with out a lot of mods
I just removed the inner races and put them on the steering stem from the GL
and assembled
although I did RC51 rotors with 6 pot calipers with
original wheel and it works just fine
