Topic: CB500/550 Fork interchangeability?

I tried a bit of searching, but couldn't find the answer I'm looking for.

I have an unusable 74 550 fork tube (the shiny chrome part), and they're too expensive/hard to find on ebay. Will a 71-76 500 fork tube be a direct replacement? Just the fork tube, not the bottom or internals. Specifically a 73 500, as that's the cheapest one I can find at the moment.
