First good run on Hush's S83
« on: January 03, 2012, 02:31:01 AM »
Got a text that a local run was happening today, too good a chance to miss to get some serious k's under my wheels on the S83. Just a run out to a picturesque country pub with some very keen riders of many different makes of bike. Narrow roads and heaps of twisties had me all over the place trying to stay in the seat and keep up with the others who knew their bikes a lot better than I did mine. Speedo didn't drop below 100 kmph much and I had a few "moments" but did not disgrace myself utterly by going off into the weeds. Great bunch of guys and we spent a good hour at the Patangata Pub talking all things bike until someone suggested it was time to depart, took a different road home, cross winds, light rain and unfamiliar roads gave me all new challenges but again somehow I kept up with the tail and before we headed to our respective homes we stopped for some more roadside banter. Got a few photos, note two Harleys, a Triumph, two 800 Suzuki's a Kawasaki 900 and my Suzi 1400. ;D I have not mastered this new bike but damn I'm having fun trying. ;)
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Hush,
If I had the $ for travel I would be there in the Winter season with you...it must be a good time of year there now.
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'
I love the small ones too !
Do your BEST...nobody can take that away from you.

Not as good as it should be mate, we should be in 40 deg celcius right now but I've had to light the fire in December twice and that is unheard of!
Still it is very hard to wipe the smile off your face after tearing around on nearly deserted country roads with 6 like minded guys on big bikes. ;D
Unfortunately or maybe fortunately we don't have the luxury of having enough bikes of one make in many areas so we don't become anal about riding just within our group, Harleys Suzi's Yams Kwakas Trumpies we don't differentuate, shame there are not too many large SOHC4 Hondas about though.  There is nothing more to put a smile on your dial than to turn up at a country pub  and find 3 or 4 sparkling CB750's racked up outside. ;)
I'm just glad the group I hooked up with yesterday had the patience to let me ride with them as I felt like such a bunny with this shiny new big bike and no experience. :-[
Only one thing for it, more riding and after that, more riding. :)
