The CB750 was made in Japan, sent here in crates, partially disassembled. Bike shops reassembled them and set them up.
To my knowledge, the first Hondas "made" in U.S.A. were the Gold Wings. They were immediately recognizable by their greatly improved paint. The parts were shipped here, then assembled factory-line style. This was done to work around the tariff that started in the early 1980s on bikes over 700cc, because the HP race had started killing a lot of new riders and the lawyers could not reach over the pond to sue someone. Pretty soon, lots of the larger Japanese bikes were being assembled here.
