Grrrr!!! I think I just broke my tach!
« on: May 24, 2006, 03:25:25 PM »
Man... I think I just broke my tach!  I took it apart so I can sand and paint the bezel.  I figured once I had it apart, I'd get a scan of the guage face.

I popped the needle off just like the tutorial on the CB750 speedo here - http://www.salocal.com/sohc/tech/speedo/spedo1.htm
Well... the needle won't go back on and looks like I snapped the small shaft.  Has anyone taken apart their tach??

BTW, If anyone wants to make a custom guage face, I have a scan of one now!!

All you need is another junky tach to salvage the drive out of.

Or, take it to a watch repair dude (some little local guy, not at the mall) and see if they can a) extract the rest of the shaft and b) replace the shaft with some pin they likely have lying around.  You'll make some old man's day giving him something different to work on.

Great idea tintin!  I'm gonna try to buy a "new" one anyway... Does anyone have a 78 cb750 tach they can part with?  Will other years work - I guess I can just swap out the internals - right?

Thanks guys!

This post is EXACTLY why I am having someone ELSE replace my tach gauge face...
