Topic: My First 1975 CB550 Finally Finished...well almost!

Bought it for $800 back in March of 2011 and finally finished it yesterday from a lot of help from Dustin Kott, ok fine, he did all the fabrications and put it back together for me.  I handed him four boxes full of parts and this is what I got back.  Wife and I just had a baby so I decided to take this route. No regrets...

List of things done...
Replaced the tank, last one was rusted out inside and we did the knee cut out.
Relocated the battery to the under tail
Removed the mounting tabs
shaved the upper triple/removed the bar mounts and replaced with clip on's.
new seat
new header and exhaust
powder coated frame and wheels/re-laced
custom made rear sets
rebuilt carbs
minimized the wiring harness
new rear shocks
rebuilt front forks
repainted engine
and new tires...

still needs: bar end mirrors, a turn signal kit, and fix a couple oil leaks from the engine.  we THOUGHT we got it all but apparently we didn't... grrrrr!

Seat was done with steel 1/4" steel bar skeleton wrapped with sheet metal throughout the entire seat.  Then foam was glued to the part that needs to be wrapped and then wrapped...

I like it.  The rearsets mounted inside the frame is something I had not seen B4.  I like a pic of your triple clamp and do you have gages I can't see.  Nicely done.

very nice.  a friend of mine just bought one in very similar condition to what you started with and we are planning on doing a very similar transformation.  Yours turned out great.  Those Shinko tires look perfect on there.

@ hondercb, thanks... I love the looks of the fat tire and a few laps around the block proved to be not much difference.

@steveK, I'll get you some pics tonight... I dont have gauges yet, thinking about mounting a bicycle cyclometer or a gps one... something low profile for sure.
