I have heard about people who have had junk mail sent to themselves on purpose, and used it to heat their homes. It comes one way or the other , and for some reason I like the idea that solicitors will keep the [our 'US' postal service] post office in business. Still today not everyone has e-mail and pop ups where they can be bombarded by the pernacious salesmen of products, and so we all get it.
I once knew a glom of hipsters who in fact moved into a house and commissiond me to have as muck junk mail sent to them as possible to establish themself as 'the hendersons.' Art tests, hearing aids, class action lawsuits, any 1-800 number that offered free information by mail, I was on the phone for them, and when they got it it was celebratory.
But now , lets forward to the modern day, some 20+ years later. I recieved a couple of honda seats in the mail yesterday, and have had boxes dropped on the porch regularyl for the last several months. They are filled with ,,, well, for loss of other words, JUNK! It is still celebratory.
