Keihin CR26 with pod filters fitment

Has anyone solved the issue with fitment of cr26's in a stock 77 CB550 frame without spending $200 on remachined shorter spiggots? The standard 4" pod filters are too big to clear the frame with the standars spiggots that came with the carbs.
