'76 750F - replacing front wheel bearings. Need other parts?
« on: January 05, 2012, 07:59:57 AM »
Replacing my wheel bearings next week while I'm replacing the tire. What else do I need besides the o-ring (91302-300-000) and bearings?
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

I like to replace the retainer ring too or at least have a ready replacement on hand in case I have to get cheeky with the old one.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

OK - so what do folks use as replacement bearings? The All Balls kit?
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

All Balls is the way to go!  I did both front and rear as well as going with their tapered steering head bearings, last winter.  Just follow the very good post here on the Forum and it shouldn't be too bad a job.

If you look on the parts fiche, you'll see the standard bearing number, usually inside a pair of ().  I take that number to my local bearing shop and 95% of the time they have them in stock.

All Balls.  Quick & easy. Double sealed bearings. Comes with the grease seal.
(The one time I went to the local bearing shop their prices were considerably more than the All Balls kit for similar quality parts.)

Tug... I just go down to the local bearing shop and get 'em.  Much less expensive than Honda.  (Don't know about the all balls price)
