Anyone in NW CT area able to help get a CB550 running?
« on: January 09, 2012, 05:52:31 PM »
Hey guys,
I live in Torrington and I recently put together a cb500/cb550 and I just can't seem to get it to spark.  I am somewhat mechanically inclined but just keep hitting dead ends with this thing.  If anyone is willing to help in the area please let me know.  I can pay in beer and pizza and atta-boys!  Please email abakulski@yahoo.com

Thanks,
Andy

Hey Andy!

This forum is not monitored much. You'll get a better response if you post ur troubles in the Tech forum.

But since you asked, take out ur volt meter. With a good batt, key in the run position (middle), and kill switch on, do you get 12v on the black/white wire at the coils?
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

I am in New Britain.  The funny thing is I do happen to visit Torrington from time to time.   Your bike is one that I am extremely familiar with as I do use one as my daily rider.  Send me a message and I think I might be able to help you diagnose the problem.

Not to thread jack but I'm also having alot of trouble with my 82 650SC here in central CT.  Are there any shops people might recommend that maybe they've brought their bikes to?  I can't get this thing to hold an idle!

The only place in central, CT that will work on those bikes is Maciag Motorcycle in New Britain.  His phone number is 860-224-4240.  There is another guy but he is way out in Willington.
