WD 40 Profit slips

I pass on WD 40 now, just not worth 8 bucks for a can.

It never made a very good lubricant, as it evaporates away and leaves very little lubricant behind.

I use plain oil from a straw, or a little grease to lubricate something.  A $2.99 a can brake cleaner to clean up a greasy mess.

High end rattle-can paints have gone crazy too.  I use SEM high fill primer which is up to $18 a can.

I use Rem-Oil instead of WD40.  It is a real oil and helps to keep the metal rust free.

WD40 is not a lubricant?

Then, what is it for?

I have been using it as a lubricant for years now....  just recently I discovered it is great for cleaning grease!

It was originally designed to repel water and prevent corrosion.

WD-40 stands for "Water Displacement – 40th Attempt".

It lubes too but not as much as real lubricants.

I don't think its a good lubricant at all, it tends to take of other lubricants off, i use it to preserve parts short term or to wash parts down....

As already stated, it was never meant to replace other lubricants.  But it is great at loosening frozen or rusted stuff, as well as the water displacement thing.  I find it invaluable in removing adhesive residue.
