cb550k paint colours

            Can somebody help,i'm restoring a 1978 550k and want to get it resprayed.currently it is candy brown and i don't like this colour.I want to keep the bike as original as possible,what other colours were available for a K model in 1978?Everywhere i look i keep finding only Candy Brown for 78 model.Thanks for your help.

Is it possible you have a '76 550K that was just titled as a '78?  Unless the color options were different for UK models, Candy Garnet Brown was only used on '76 models.  '78 was either black or candy alpha red.

I had this problem with my 77. Its not really black. Its a brownish black. I never got a straight answer. In direct sunlight its clearly brown but in any-other circumstance it looks almost black.

Many thanks to everyone who answered.my bike is not a 76 as it has the black flap for the fuel filler.it is a Canadian import.the paint schemes for earlier k models look a lot better.would be grateful for anymore ideas.a nice metalic Blue or red would be nice.cheers.i,ve included a picture of my bike before i started,looks better than it actually was

I'm doing mine Flake Sapphire Blue ala 76F model...if I can get someone to paint my tank.

If the frame number starts 20 it should be Excel Black If 21 Candy Alpha Red or Black
