Yet another chain issue on the CB400F
« on: January 11, 2012, 03:27:30 PM »
On the advice of those here I did some checking and lubing on the chain of my 75 CB400F. One thing that i had not noticed in my exuberance and riding the thing around was that my center stand pops up far enough and comes in contact with the chain, taking some slack out of it. I dont think its been happening until I came in posession of it as the gouge on the center stand isnt very bad.
So is there an adjustment on the stand for this. Could it be missing a stop somewhere? The center stand also contacts the panhard rod? (for lack of a better word)...on the right side of the bike.
thanks

I have a 750 but it does sound like you are missing a stop. It is not hard to make one up.

Had the same problem with mine. Fixed it with the Honda rubber stop attached to the bottom of the Honda muffler (pattern muffler form DSS) mounting bracket. There's a hole there dedicated for that purpose. Part number is 95011-61000 and .71 from Service Honda. Fixed the problem.
