Looking for a honda dealer
« on: January 10, 2012, 12:54:05 PM »
Looking for  a honda dealer that has a parts list online (parts finder) with prices that uses USPS (not UPS) to ship.  Here in Canada we get killed with fees when using UPS but seems to be OK with USPS.  I've been using a dealer in Montreal but they've removed their online parts finder.

I haven't used them for shipping anything, I pick it up at the counter.  ;)

I use these guys to find factory part numbers, only problem is they only have it listed if they sell it like most i believe.

They use UPS.  Looking for a dealer that uses USPS.

Just curious, why not use a local Honda dealer? I go online and do the research for part numbers and rough cost, then I go to a dealer in Tilbury On and they double check my numbers then place an order for me.

BTW - that's the big trick. Show up at the dealer armed with the part number.

I use this site to get the part numbers for my 550:

+1 to Orange550's comment.

I go to my local Honda dealer with parts number in hand or they can look them up on their computer or in the case of my 750K1 on their original card fiches.  Parts usually come from Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver in a couple of days with no shipping costs.

+1 for Orange and Cranky

All Canadian Honda dealers have the same computer system that has nothing in it before 1979. But they can get the parts for you if you have the part number and (surprise!) their prices are reasonable and getting the parts in usually only takes 1 day if they have them in national stock. Most consumable parts (gaskets, seals, filters, etc) can be gotten from your local Honda dealer.

I use http://www.servicehonda.com/ to look up part numbers and to get a rough idea of the price.

The dealer that was a 10 minute drive from my house closed down.  The nearest dealer is 45 minutes away in Mississauga and I refuse to battle the traffic driving there.  I've become so fed up with traffic that I order stuff online and have it shipped to my house no matter what it is - I've also done it with groceries.  I also use courier services to send my k1 top end for a bore job to a machine shop in Etobicoke.  It cost me $16 dollars to send the top end where it would probably cost me about $10 in gas so it's a no brainer.  I'm trying to eliminate the use of a car to an absolute minimum.  It might sound a bit extreme for some people but consider that an average of 38,000 cars drive in front of my front door every day - and you can imagine the congestion.

You explained it well.
Maybe have a chat with the dealer in Mississauga and see if he will send the parts to you by mail?
I had a great relationship with the parts man at the local Honda dealer in Milton and he often went "above and beyond" for me. Contact was by email which was great for me. To bad he left the dealership to continue his university studies. You don't know until you ask.
Where in TO are u? Have you dealt with Glen at http://www.fsmotorcycle.com/ on Carlaw? Not a Honda dealer but he is amazing.

The dealer in Mississauga doesn't ship.  I forgot about the dealer in Milton.  I'll give them a call.  Thanks!

Yes, I've used Glen about 10 times.  He does go above and beyond and will go to no end to satisfy his customers.  He's got a great reputation and very reasonable prices.  He ships too!

There is also a Honda "Powerhouse" dealer in Brampton that I have dealt with.

Interesting that you can't buy a new Honda bike in the city of Toronto! I just checked at the Honda website.

Apparently there is a push to open another honda dealer in the city as there is nothing between Whitby and Mississauga (I think) south of the 401.
