Why run a 21'' wheel up front?
« on: January 10, 2012, 02:50:09 PM »
I know its and old school trick, and looks pretty cool, but is there a special purpose to a 21'' wheel up front? I am seein that people been using 21'' off dirtbikes.  Is there something universal for a  "75' cb550 axle size" I can look for, or most likly I will have to lace up the rim to my stock front hub... And most of all is it worth doing...?

If anyone has pics of a 21'' wheel on the front of an old cb. Id like to see them.

Thanks guys.
Matt

just depends...would you rather be able to turn quick and sharp or would you rather have unflappable high speed straight line stability...the cb750 is pretty well known for good high speed stabilty with the stock 19" so really switching to a 21" is just for looks...
If it works good, it looks good...

I was goin for the cafe look, but I picked up a honda rear hub laced to a 16'' harley rim, some shock relocating mounts and a new tank.  I like the "ol' modified bobber/ chopper look."  I just plan on cruising thats all.  Not really into the racing around town thing. Sharp Bike tho man!

Thanks,
Matt

Thanks tho man, I was looking for people's opinions, you helped me out.  I dont want to dive into anything without seeing why people do it.  Ive yet to even ride this bike yet... I wanna build it all at one time if possible to save money.
