I'm thinking of modifying the frame to accept a swingarm from another bike, so I can use more modern wheels brakes and tires, anyone gone down that road??

Hiya theres an easy way to do THIS - start searching for one of the MANY aftermarket arms that used to be marketed. I scored a Dresda box section one for my K7, removed the caliper torque bracket, made a mount for the hub braked torque arm and it went straight in. Tyre sizes, modern rubber? rims and spokes is all thats needed lol
