77 CB750 gas tank fits on a 71?
« on: January 12, 2012, 03:11:54 PM »
The title says it all.

I know there are differences in the tanks over the years, like the 77/78 has the gas cap cover door and different decals, but my question is about the mounting of the tank. Are the mounting points the same? Is the pitot valve spigot on the same side? Same type?

Thanks
George

I have a '74 tank on my '78, so I know it works in reverse !... The '78 tank is longer and wont fit with the earlier seat, but should fit on the frame fine....

PM sent about tires, C.Daddy.

Tank will fit  petcock will be different.  Seats wont interchange. Look around the forum. Lots of info on the subject.

Thanks all.
I know the 77/78 is longer overall by about 2". Not surprised that the seat won't fit.
Someone is interested in a 77 tank I have for sale and he has a 71.
