SOHC v DOHC Petrol Tank Fitting

Hi All

I'm new on here but have a thorny one. Am cafe racing a 1980 CB750C and am looking to fit a CR750 petrol tank. Anyone know if a tank designed for the SOHC frame will also fit a DOHC frame (which has upward bends in the two side tubes rather than running straight back)? I've seen a post suggesting that it would but could do with a definitive answer from someone who knows what they're talking about ie preferably has tried it for themselves ;-)

Hi ianlawton, did you have any success fitting a SOHC tank to your DOHC frame... I am wanting to do the same thing :) ?

Definately NOT a plug and go!!
The DOHC tanks are wider in the tunnel area and also a little longer than the SOHC. I'm in to building SOHC CHOPPERS so NOTHING is impossible if you have the talent and equiptment to do it yourself. You could ,cut out the tunnel of the DOHC tank/bottom of tank and FAB/WELD in new sections. Since you are going CAFE style you could reconfigure the aft mount and make it work.

But , consider this I'm the type of guy that WON'T be told "IT WON'T WORK or YOU CAN'T DO THAT"
