Found this while searching youtube. I am not sure if this has been posted previously. How well is this video to follow a carb rebuild?

Ok for mildly soiled carbs not the nasty ones with white power in them.  He should have ran carb spray through all the passages to see that they are clear.  You can't see air and it is difficult to know where it is coming from by feel.

I am so tempted to tear into my 550F carbs to move it it to the 4th notch but am afraid I will mess the rest of the carb up and have to send it off th ethe shop to do for 250....EHHH bike runs fine but I know they could use a cleaning since my tank got rusty over the winter and the new muffler required rejetting.

Is your tank clean?  Start there.  Next drop a bowl and check for varnish.  If there an autozone where you live get valuecraft carb cleaner 2.47 a can, a toothbrush and compressed air.  Your really need an air compressor to clean carbs.  Value craft instantly dissolves varnish.  Using the little tube that comes with the can spray into the main jet on the airbox side.  Next to it is the idle jet.  Then blow out with compressed air.

Be careful to not get that stuff on your paint it melts that too!!  Repeat until you are satisfied all passages are clear.

Don't worry about the needle for now.  Do a plug chomp at 65 or so and see what color go you.  1 position isn't going to make too much difference if you are super lean .  You will need to move to a larger jet size.

For what it is it's not bad.  The video is pretty accessible as far as technical knowledge and anyone can watch it and maybe be able to do it themselves.   Sure it's not super in depth and he didn't even take the rack apart really but that's ok for what it is.  Kudos to him for just putting knowledge out there.  I have been planning on making some videos like this myself so it's good to see others.

I don't like the way he's working on that float pin at around the 20 min. mark. You can easily mar the pin with pliers, like he's doing. Or, peen over one end by beating on it with whatever is handy, like he's doing. Or, worst of all, break off the stand that the pin goes through.
I have a long, thin punch that's the same size as the pin. That and a few LIGHT taps with a small hammer will get it right out if it's tight.

OK, I watched this and found it very helpful.  However, I want to take the rack apart and service each carb individually.  What is the best way to do this?  I understand I'll need to sync them when done and that I need to put them back in the same order that I found them - I just cannot figure out the best approach to take the rack off.  Specifically, I'm not clear on how to remove the parts that connect each carb to the throttle pully/springs.

Anyone do a video on that part?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Aaron
