Topic: Will tan exhaust wrap get nasty?

I'm worried that after a while, it will get dirt and road crap and it will go from looking cool to looking like an oil rag. I don't plan on riding in the rain.

I have seen that some of them come with a silicone spray to spray on the wrap after application to keep it clean and dry. Anybody have any word on that?

And a year or so after wrapping............the pipe is likely to be rusted..............I've seen some with pin-holes.

I ran a wrap for two years no problems, and without any rust, but I live in southern California. Never understood the rust comments when if you ride somewhat often it would immediatly burn off any moisture....I used the black then used hi-temp black paint over it. When it lost some color I would touch it up. I like the look but it all depends on the bikes whole. I understand the other guys saying it looks nasty, but often it used as a cheap way to cover some not so good looking pipes, whatever the reason. Its a cheap mod with some maintenance it would look good and last. I like the titanium look wrap.

I couldn't see the photo very well. I couldn't ever figure out how to get a large one. I'm probably just stupid.

How long have you had the wrap and how has it held up?

I have heard the way to go is to high temp paint the pipes and then wrap over them. I think that if you do the silicone spray over it, it probably would not do any damage to the pipes. I just wonder if it will look like a well-used chew toy after a year or two.

To be honest, I have not run it with it on but, I have used it on a car for over 6 years and it has held up quite well. It has turned  little white but am happy with the results. I would think with a wrap, since you have to wrap it tight, it would trap some amunt of moisture. With the techflex, it stays a little loose but it wont unwrap be cause its a tube, and being a little looser it will burn off any moisture rather quickly.

No. I used it on my yz250f which gets extremely dirty, muddy, ect. It actually takes power-washing and looks brand new when I'm done. Before you wrap, spray the pipes with a good hi-temp paint. The Rustoleum Grill paint works well. Let it dry and then wrap and bake in an over or on the bike with engine running. It will smoke and stink.

the tan dei wrap will change as soon as the motor is turned on becomes more of a burnt tan then the light tan color,
thats after almost 2 years
