About a year ago there were some new mount kits on Ebay. they may still surface from time to time. The next nice one I find near home, I'm thinking the same thing. I had one in the 70's and for a long trip they are the nuts. My brother had the lowers and you could ride late in the season comfortably.
However, I do prefer the look of the bike without one.

Saw some new ones in the last week

I had 40,000 miles behind a Windjammer SS on my K3. I do know that the bracket from even a K8 will fit on the K3 as that is what my SS fairing came from. I have 34,000 miles behind the Windjammer IV on my '81 Gold Wing. The Windjammer SS, III, and IV all have the built in turn signals. The Vindicator and Windjammer II, used the original to the bike turn signals on little brackets. IMHO, the SS, III and IV with the built in turn signals make the fairing a little easier to take off and on. BUT, they are still very easy to take off and on as they are. The best fairing mounting bracket,  is the Vetter bracket and the wiring harness.  I take my Windjammer off when I do the winter wax job, between riding seasons. The fairing has been off the K3 for years now as I use the Gold Wing, when I am going for a long ride.

This is a terrible picture of a Jammer on a CBX, but there's this pic of one on Craig Vetter's website...

Windjammer fairings were not intended to beautify, they were functional. I had one on a '76 CB550F and like Charlie1717 I used to take it off and on depending on the distance and weather. I smoked back then and I could light up and roll down the highway at 70mph and not have the wind burn up my cigarette in two minutes. It definitely made long trips a lot less tiring. I even had a set of what Vetter called "Hippo Hands." They were a protective sleeve that mounted on the bars over the controls and you slipped your hands inside. With the dead air space in there and gloves your hands would stay toasty in really cold weather. But they were very ugly.
Bob

Awesome explanation on the functionality for you Bob...I am curious how many times cross winds blew the ash of the cig/dubbie and burnt ya?

If I remember correctly, I dry fitted my Vetter fairing bracket up to my K6 and K7.  The conclusion you can draw is that the original CB750 brackets will fit from K0 thru K8.

I have a couple fairings laying around and don't plan on using them all.  If someone in the area (NW Indiana) wants one, PM me.  Unfortunately, I have only one bracket (I need that :) ).

I don't think there is anything wrong with the Windjammer fairings but I thought I would make sure that you were aware of another option. The link below is just one of many types that are available:

http://shop.nationalcycle.com/perl/cycle/N8332?mv_session_id=ZUcPrSH6&search_model=hd-005%22

I had a similar fairing on a BMW R75/7 and it took me about two minutes to put it on or take it off. You can find them used on CL or Ebay or I've even seen them at thrift stores. I just wanted to make you aware in case you had never seen these before.

My buddy has one of those. It gets the job done. On his bike I was to tall so the wind was just getting lifted and smacked into my face ha.  If I don't like the vetter that is the route I will be going.

Beautiful Six, Stynboen!
One of my friends who had one with a 'Jammer said the main advantage, in his eyes, was the added weight to the front, which kept the 80 MPH wheelies to a minimum when touring with his wife on 2-lane roads, passing other vehicles. She appreciated that... :D

One thing a windjammer offers over a handlebar mounted windscreen (I have both) is that the windjammer doesn't turn the handlebars into a sail like a windshield does.  The windjammer cuts into side winds and you're not fighting the windshield.

I am looking for the Windjammer SS mount for a 78 CB750K. Anyone have one they want to part with? How about a top case and mount? Anyone have one of those?

In your search, the fairing mounting bracket is the same for all 750 K models. So if you have a K8 don't be afraid to buy one for a K2. I even think a Pacifco fairing uses the same mount as a Vetter.

I have the SS on the '77 Goldwing I bought last August. I had originally intended to remove it and replace it with a Harley style windshield. But after riding it about a thousand miles over the last 3 months of the season, I think I am going to leave it on. I really liked it.
