Speedometer Base Plate Modification
« on: January 17, 2012, 07:17:34 AM »
The one on my 73 is pretty crusty. My parts guy quoted me $120 for a new one. I found a NOS on fleabay that among other bikes but mine will work on a 1976-1978 CB750K for $35 shipped.

Mine has a 5th hole for the trip nob. Do you think if I drilled a hole I can make the $35 work? they look almost identical minus the missing 5th trip reset hole.

Found mine here for a 78. They don't show one for a 73 but worth a call. A lot of times they have or can get stuff they don't show and there stuff is very good.

Yeah but I wonder how much? also shipping is much more when shipping to the states no? NOS parts for my 73 seem to be abnormally higher compared to other year NOS parts.

Am I the only maniac genius who thought of this? After much discussion and research I have a feeling this might work. I'm most like going to pull the trigger on the NOS one mention above and see if the rest of the holes line up. The seller said I can return it for a full refund as long as I don't drill first.
