Wrong size front sprocket??
« on: January 17, 2012, 10:59:42 PM »
I went to my local shop and seem that my info is all messed up .  Wtf. My chain I ordered was told buy a nice fellow on here wouldnt fit..cause of o ring. So I got different chain. I put the sprocket on rear tire hopeing that that's ok but now not suren my front sprocket isn't lineing up with the cover plate. So I'm guessing this won't work. What should I get? I was asking for a bit more torque so I think he said one down in the front. The sprocket says pb 348 15t
( front) the rear is a hon 530 37t
What's going on?? Will this work? Well I know the front won't but if I return that will he give me what fits the back or is this just gonna run like a rusty tractor??

that sprocket should work there may be gunk built up in the splines not allowing it to go completely on and on some if they did not chamfer the inside radius of the sprocket that can sometimes cause it not to go on right it is a shortcut some aftermarket sprocket manufacturers do either from being cheap or from stupidity but that looks like a good sprocket is it a sun if it is you may have the hub on the wrong side if it has two hubs one on either side then check the chamfer if it has two hubs it can be flipped over and used a little longer

+1, I replaced the front sprocket on my 650 a while ago and the lock collar wouldn't turn because the sprocket was too thick, I had to thin it by 1.2mm to allow the lock washer to turn and lock in.

I did futs with it and it went on...but after tightening to the max there's still a very slight bit of movement back n forth. A fraction of a wobble. Is this right?? Is the outer bump of sun go out or the flat part on other side go out?? Just not sure of this slight movement on sprocket
** that plate fits over but only when I slide it back out a small bit..then I can put the screws in..but see in the pic its not flush with the sprocket there's a bit of space and I think that's why there's some play in the sprocket. What should i do? I don't think there should be any play in the sprocket.

It should be just fine.  There will be a bit of play in the sprocket (between it and the shaft) with the lock collar installed, and this is normal.  The most important thing is to make sure the lock collar is installed correctly and fastened securely, and it appears as if you've done that.

Most Honda sprockets have a lot of play, they are designed that way..if you cant wiggle it..be worried...

Funny on the nitehawk site someone asked about the play and everyone has him worried something is wrong.  I told him twice its normal.

I am not sure on the Nighthawk, but on the sprocket shown they have play.. iof it has a nut holding sprocket on then it might not be set up to have play in it...
