what's left of a cb500t piston left side

bought this bike the other day just wanted the tank and wheels gave the rest to my son he noticed a bunch of ground up shavings comming out of the exhaust manifold we took the engine apart and look what we found this is whats left of the piston
I've done a lot of things in my life that I'm not proud of...and the things I AM proud of, "are disgusting"

Internal weight reduction?  Lean carb?  Are you planning to rebuild lt?
I wonder how hot it got in there.  The parts look melted.  Good luck with the build.

that's all of it you ought to see the lifter the big mystery is how long did it run when all this came about the lifter got extremely hot and i mean hot.it had the whitish red color that metal gets when it has been sitting in a fire.

Then that is worst damage to a piston I've ever seen.

Looks as bad as a 2-stroke with an air leak!  Someone did that motor wrong shame on 'em.

Here's a profile of the perp:
- 16 to 19 year-old
- "oil?  oh yeah, oil..."
- "it goes faster when I get that needle past the redline there"
- "it's a loaner, it's my buddy's bike he asked me to watch it and he left the key in it he won't notice"
