swing arm stand CB750?
« on: January 19, 2012, 11:56:05 AM »
I would like to know about a swing arm stand for a CB750.
If you know of one that will work.

I do not want the $150 kind
I want the $49.99-$69.00 kind.

Does not need to be gold anodized, know what I mean?

I use a T-Rex stand.  It has served me well for the last 8 years or so on multiple bikes (Suzuki SV650, Triumph Daytona 675, and my CB750)

On this stand do you have to add something on the swing arm to make this work? Would you need someone to hold the bike while you put it up on the stand? I would love to dump the center stand, less weight, and looks like #$%*.

Thanks

If you look at the pic it has some pieces in the middle.  Those swap out for the winged looking things.  You just insert them into the stand and adjust them to where they slip under the swingarm.  They have a couple different versions of handles.  From there you basically just push the handle down.  It will take a little bit of work the first couple of times, but you will get the hang of it.

I make sure the front end is straight, lift the bike off of the side stand so that it is straight up and down (balance bike on leg), slide the stand under the swingarm, and push the handle down.

I have two of these, one for the BMW which has spools, and one for the 750's, even though I retained the C/S mount. The one I use on the 750's I reversed the pieces that mount on top, so that the bar sticks out to the inside, and not the spool plate. Works fine. Put some rubber hose on there if you are concerned about scratches. HF usually has coupons in the bike mags and such, even on their site. I got mine for $25 a piece with coupons.

No biggie to ditch the center stand, just leave the frame mounts.  When you need to do maintenance, just put it back by sliding the pin back in...don't fuss with the spring...
If it works good, it looks good...
