CB750 forks hit tank on left side
« on: January 28, 2012, 11:13:35 AM »
Just noticed when I turn the forks all the way to the left on my CB750 K2
they hit the tank.  The tank is mounted correctly and the rubber mounts
are in good condition.  If I turn them all the way right, there is clearance
between the tank and forks.  Any idea what might be causing this?

I just took another look and the stop tabs on the fork member are both OK, but
I did find the problem.  The small metal plate that is welded to the front of the frame
has a small indentation on the right side.  This allows the forks to swing a little farther
left than normal.  I think this has been caused over time by the bike sitting on the side stand
with the forks all the way left.  Anyway the only fix I can figure out is to put a small spot weld
on the indentation.
