CB750 worth $200
« on: January 21, 2012, 05:05:14 AM »
Is this bike worth $200?  The good is it has papers.  The bad is everything else locked motor, parts in tote, frame modifications.  The thing I don't like the most is the frame mods.  Cutting the side rails and the seat rails.  What do you guys think?

Chewy, the bottom pics looks like a bike a member here recently purchased.

Yeah I know I uploaded it my mistake.  My bad.  The top bike is the one I am talking about.  Congrats on the 750!

If you are planning to use the frame it is worth 200.  In   PA a title is almost impossible to get and it would cost way over 200 to go through one of those title companies. If no plans for the frame, it looks like scrap for salvage unless the wheels are not rusted. My  .02...Larry

It would be worth the money if you had another frame to graft the headstock onto.  That particular style of seatstay mod usually requires some good gussets to keep from bending.  If you cant do the reapirs, I would be interested in the frame with papers.  What year is it?

It is a 1978 has a box of parts to come with it.  Can't speak for the parts.  I do have another frame to graft the head onto, but have to welder.  Even if I did have a welder I would have not way to know how to graft the head onto it.

Hey, that's my favorite year.  Sell me the frame with clear title, and reuse or part out the rest.  You could even make a profit if you're willing to spend the time it takes to sell the parts.
I could graft the headstock onto this and have a runner.

just for fun, kerry

No I don't think so except maybe for Alaska cheap bikes can be had on a regular basis.  Wonder if KerryB got his prize back to the garage.  It be funny if he hangs it from the garage ceiling like a deer.

The hunt is half the fun.  My favorite was a 1972 CB750 I got for $200 from a guy in Connecticut.  After my 73 is done I will hopefully have the funds to to a little powder coating on the 72.  We'll see.

My favorites are the combo deals where you can score 2 or 3 bikes at once for cheap.  There is gold in them SOHC hills!

nah...I called the guy and it had been sold already.  The hunt is often just a watchful eye and an attentive ear.
