Paint?
« on: November 13, 2012, 11:35:25 PM »
Anyone recommend a good paintshop in the UK, preferably Midlands? I just want a standard respray for my CB500 tanks and panels, but would like the stripes  painted, not stuck on.

For fun, what's your preferred OEM colour for these - mine is gold.

Many thanks,

You could try for a quote from Dream Machine (http://www.dream-machine.co.uk/) based in Nottingham. They tend not to be cheap, but their work is top class and well recognised as such.

Always best to get a few quotes !!

Color Code Motors Ltd. in Studley are doing my 2 CB400F tanks and 4 sidepanels in Varnish Blue this week. Quoted £300. I'll let you know how they turn out. I was impressed at the work they did of a friend Honda Blackbird lats year. They did a good job on a Mini for Chris Evens too.

How did your paint turn out then? Got an estimate from Faircharm, comes to around £600, way too much for my liking.

Cheers,

Hi Rog,

Yes very pleased with the results. pic attached. It took them a few weeks but reasonable price (cash  8)). Great finish and colour.

They look pretty good - and the price is really keen considering you've had a double lot done.

I've emailed them for a quote - not sure if they can match the old Honda colours, especially as I want to change from black, but we'll see.

All the best,

Rog

To close off this thread - I found a local paintshop, Douglas Motor Services (http://www.dmsport.co.uk/), who did a fantastic job of tank and side panels, and fitted the stripes (bought them elsewhere) for £150! Mark Douglas is keen to do more bikes, so do contact him if you're within reach of Northampton.

And here's a pic to show it off!
