Thanks Larry still undecided on the chain guard.. Larry next time I come over will give you the chrome handlebars for your 400 build..

Good news the handlebars, levers, mirrors and grips came in this morning got them put on. Looks pretty good.

Waiting for a starter switch to come in from radio shack and can get the controls buttoned down. Still dont like the look of the old controls but meh going to leave them for now till I figure out what I want to do with them..

Top of the triple is cool. Have you hooked up a battery to see if the lights function? I can get a glimpse of the engine and it shines.

Did a little work on the tail/seat today still got some shaping to do but what do you all think. I just put a black pad I had laying around just to visualize the black seat ignore it for now.

Thanks Matt

Bike is looking incredible, Matt.  I am quite envious.  The engine looks especially great.

Hoping to start getting some traction on mine soon.  Winter projects took longer than expected and a lot of time was spent on wedding planning.   ::)   It will be worth it - she is not only tolerant but encourages my love of gasoline-powered toys.  Definitely a keeper.

Keep up the good work!

Good to hear from you again Jay. Glad everything is working out and you are starting to get some time work on the bike. Hit me up if you need any help I wouldnt mind getting out of the garage to see your project.:)

Larry will get a pic up of the rear when I get back outside to work on it. My back is killing me from helping someone put a engine back into a bike  :o

Hello all got some time today to work on the bike and was wondering if anyone can identify these two parts. Was cleaning my workbench and found them under a rag.. For the life of me I have no idea what the washer or the spring went too. It is possiable that when the wife was working on her 550 she left them there will ask her when she gets home but if anyone knows would appreciate it..

Is that an O ring next to the spring? Not sure but could be the spring used when changing the oil. remove the bolt and see if its there. Hence why the O ring that goes with it is out as well.

-Hook electrical up
-order air to carb boots
-order new handlebars the black ones I had didnt work put the old chrome ones back on for now.
-finish up bodywork (tank, seat/tail and sidecovers)
-figure out how to mount the back turnsignals screw isnt long enough to bolt on.

Thanks Benjy..

Got done painting the hand controls ,anyone have any recommendations for the painting the lettering on the hand controls and was it red or orange (Cliff Clavin fact of the day there isn't a word that rhymes with orange).

"All of these were anodized a nice, shiny black by Honda, with the control markings apparently molded (stamped? roll-engraved?) into the bodies. These marks were filled in with a flat International Orange paint that was applied by automated silkscreen...  Testors Model Master International Orange is a close match if you're rebuilding."

Excerpt from SohRon's hand control rebuild thread. I was gonna suggest a sharpie paint pen.

Things are going slowly, but they are going. Replacing a cam chain tensioner and should be good to go

Finally got the tail light in just put it on with some tape to see how it looked. I was concerned with it since I had made the tail about 2 inches smaller than it was originally planned. I think it looks good not too big.

Got the new handlebars in got those on. Put the controls on to see how it looks I repainted them and the wife did the lettering came out pretty good need to put another coat on the lettering and some touch up then clear coat them.

Almost done polishing the M/C was bored and started doing it the other day what a pain that is to polish all up dont think I will be doing another one anytime soon :)

Waiting for some more parts to come in will keep on pushing to get this done by July..

Not much to update still waiting for some parts to come in and have inventory coming up at work so have been very busy not much time on the bike will get some time this week when inventory is over.

On the bright side I got my next project for the winter. 1981 Honda silverwing. Sorry for those of you that like the look but it is one fugly looking bike. The engine is what I liked about it rather unique looking. Should be a interesting cafe project will be working on it and the wifes 1975 cb550 at the same time :)..
