MadScientist, I'm not a fan of the 'nanny state' either.. but you know this guy isn't going to just go 'poof' and walk off all charred like Wile E. Coyote, it's gonna hassle other people.. EMTs, tow truck drivers, physical therapists.. Though, it would be much funnier Wile E style.

Here is what I dont like , and I have no problem with people USING NO2..
He  wants to put it on a ratty bike, and maybe try it once or twice... just trying to up the cool factor..

Sure the bike wins trophies, but not for commendable or noteworthy reason .. and certainly not for innovation or build quality..

havent been on here for awhile but i guess everyone hates my bike lol, ive been fighting getting it running good with the new electronic ignition and the different carbs i swapped too im now rebuilding the carbs and down sizing my jets some, yes my bike isnt built as a purpose bhuilt drag bike its not the fastest thing and its not pretty but thats what i want the bike has been all over new england and ridden hard i was side tracked helping put my dads bike together but im back on track for the cb to be 100%

this is the bike we just finished its a 96 inch stroker withe aero charger turbo made just shy of 200 rwhp and 222rwtq does that fit in with preformance and build quality lol my dad has money i dont my bike gets as many looks

Glad to see you are still alive chum.   :D
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

ive been ridding it but its breaking up at high rpms i took my carbs off and put a set one a guy said he "rebuilt" i got them cheap and figured it would save me rebuilding mine but there kicking my ass i can get it to stop running super fat, so i took my origanals and rebuilt them and down sized to a 125 main from the 1/16 drilled jets ive ran for years its wierd low rpms it runs better than ever but at 5-6k it breaks up bad so i havent hit the button yet  and it mists fuel out when its breaking up

Good to  see you back, did you get to ride the turbobeast?.. bet that is exciting.

As far as the 550, may as well fix the carbs yourself, this is the place to learn how..

I dont so much think everyone hates the bike its just it doesnt seem like the nos will work with the carbs... Maybe if you can find one of the older fuel injjection systems. Or build one there a. Thread on it somewhere on here. Cant remeber the name of it. Wwanted to do it myself but realized i didnt want to sspend the cash to put one together.

i have an extra 74 cb550 motor sitting in the shed that has 10k miles, mine has 30k if i hit the button and it granades ill be ridding it again the next day and saying lesson learned  ::)

the thing i dont get it how i could get hurt other than loosing it and going off the road witch i doubt it will be that dramatic of a hit that it will spin the tire or pull a wheelie, it will probly just pull me back in the seat more, this is the real world and im not vin diesel, nitrous isnt flamable in anyway so the bottle cant hurt me if it throws a rod witch i doubt wheres it going to go back into the tranny aera like a foot away from me or out the front at that point i pull in clutch coast to side of road and call for a ride, the thing thats most likely is it will burn up a valve burn a hole in a piston or bridge 2 combustion chambers and it will run like crap

Sounds like you've got your bases covered. Try and set up a 3 camera shoot in HD. I wanna see it on the big screen.

Dude, you seem intent on making it hard to be on your side. :)

If you spin up that back wheel, you can end up with a lowside if you're lucky/good, or a highside if you're unlucky.  Of course, it's possible to save it too, but that's not the only option by a damn site.

Also, if you shove a rod through the block, that's a bunch of oil dumped onto the road right in front of your rear wheel, which is a formula for very scary times.

Anyhow, the claim that N2O only works with injection is way off base.  You're absolutely right that it can be made to work with carbs.

Are you doing a dry or wet system?

Ok, so whats wrong with nitrous on a bike?? This is one of my builds- no, its not an SOHC but that kit was originally bought for my F model SOHC. As long as its done right, nitrous oxide is a very safe power adder. A small shot is ok without controllers but the larger the jet, the more timing you have to pull out to avoid detonation- likewise with a turbo. Progressive controllers are the way to go.

yeah.. see.. that is the difference, you're actually building the bike to take it.. and to be fair, you still haven't fired it either. If you prep the engine, supply enough fuel and manage your ignition, it's ABSOLUTELY a great way to build HP, but this bike is , more or less, like sticking a lighter in front of a can of aquanet... fun for a second, scary in the long haul.

No2 with the mtorcycle carbs i dont see working great.most cars with a carb and no2 are running a 4 barrel carb. So the fuel kicks in two stages. The difference. Is the bike carb isnt going to suddenly kick extra fuel into the intake.. also. Mind you i would love to see it work. And a dyno run with and without just to see the difference. Its a cool idea, it just doesn seem to add up working. Hopeing it does though.
Good luck choppa

Wow.

Quite a bit of misunderstanding and misinformation in this post, to put it mildly! Apparently no idea how carbs or N2O work, but it doesn't stop you from offering an opinion...

Yeah, I thought it looked like a wet kit, with the 2 inputs to each nozzle.  Set it up fat and don't spray too much and you should be fine.

I don't know when I've seen a thread with more hysteria and misinformation than this one.

Wet system will work fine and has been used on bikes for decades I don't see that being an issue at all.  But suicide shift will spraying that has the potential to end badly.  ... so be careful.

What are you using as your trigger for the NO2?  A micro switch on the carb linkage adjusted to trip when you go wide open?
