Turn signal audible indication? 70 CB750
« on: May 23, 2006, 07:16:58 PM »
Should the turn signal make a noise to tell the rider the turn signal is on?  For this model?

I'm not sure for your exact model, but most had a turn signal buzzer.  And many have been pulled out, like mine.  It made a horrible sound - had to go.  On my 550, it was mounted below the headlight bucket into a square mounding tab.  The wires ran into the bucket.  I now have an empty square tab and two loose wires in the bucket.

My 76 550F has it - horribly irritating, but I spent money to replace the buzzer with one that works - it may be irritating, but it keeps me from leaving the indicators on.

I think it came with the CB750K2 onwards. There was a switch in the left control to disconnect it.

My Sanglas has it and I'm going to disconnect it.

All the UK ones were dealer disconnected because blind people were walking out into bikes at "Pelican" crossings where the green walking light was acompanied by a beeper of almost identical pitch. I think it was later than the K" came in in about 75/76 i think. Wings were one of the first to have them

I just disconnected the wires and left the turn signal there. I leave my turn signals on more often now, but I get less quizzical looks at stoplights.

I changed out the little lamps for my idiot lights with led's; the 4-led version.  Now they're so bright that small aircraft line up behind me to land.  It's great in the daytime, but kind of annoying at night (I don't ride much in the dark).  I think the bright idiot light with no buzzer works much better for me than the old dim incandescent lamp and buzzer.

I like this idea but I live to close to the air port for comfort if I do  ;)

Jim Shea's 76 F1 doesn't have one.
Eamonn's 77 F2 does

I plan on doing this in the future. However, on my 74 CB550 the idot light panel is on the handlebar clamp, right out of my sight. I have to look down to see it because the "chin bar" of my helmet is in the way of seeing it while I'm riding. I thought about taking the idiot lights and moving them to the headlamp bucket. A couple of LEDs would allow an unobtrusive look and be more helpful because I can actually see them.
