  • So, what do ya wanna talk about today?
Well I heard a horrible noise a moment ago and I knew that "GaZza" had been playing outside with the dog, so I went to investigate.

Oh My God, all I can say is, SCUNNY, WHAT THE FARK HAVE YOU BEEN FEEDING THE POOR BUGGER???????  :o :o :o :o :o :o

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

  • So, what do ya wanna talk about today?
Stinking hot day again today, but I promised GaZza that I'd take him for a ride and show him around, so I stuffed him down my jacket and off we went. I showed him my "test track" and we had some illegal fun at 120 MPH for a couple of miles.

Shortly afterwards I thought that the usual rattles were getting a tad louder, and my oil pressure had dropped 10 or 15 pounds. Oh dear. I pulled over and noticed a light mist of oil over the top of my crankcases and on the fins at the rear of the cylinder head/block joint, so I surmised that I've probably blown a head gasket.

Anyway, the speed limit up to Kinglake is only 50 MPH, so I limped up there and had a yack with some Harley boys (feeling the irony that the only bike leaking oil in the carpark was a Honda) and a quick beer, then back home again. If it wasn't so hot, and if my bike wasn't running so bad, it would have been a good ride.

When we got home GaZza had a quick look at it, but decided that it was too hot, so curled up in his usual spot for a good nights sleep before we head down to Phillip Island tomorrow. He's gonna be really pissed when he finds out that we're travelling down on a Triumph! Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

And to think I thought YOU were full of it not GZ!

Thought I mentioned something about that damned K and GZ! Shoulda listened to me dude. Use the F especially since that K will only do 120 before it blows.

Just realized that you may be the first to get GZ up to 120!! Congratulations and have fun at the races.

  • So, what do ya wanna talk about today?
This is a shameless repost from the Brian (Bear) thread, so my apologies, but I'm sunburnt, hot, depressed, and pretty drunk right now, ha ha!

Well it was another stinking hot day today, so I didn't particularly enjoy the 100 mile ride down to Phillip Island, and I was even less happy when I noticed a horrible noise emanating from the transmission of my beautiful Triumph Rocket III as I pulled into the circuit. Fcuk.

Anyway, the day improved considerably when I met up with Pete, (peterCB750) and formally handed over GZ so he can take him back to South Australia with him tomorrow. Pete's a hell of a nice bloke, and he came over to listen to the noises coming from the Triumph, and even offered to drive me back to Melbourne if I wasn't keen on attempting to ride it home. Thanks Pete, I'm truly happy to have met you!

We then caught up with Brian, who, as expected, was hanging out with his race buddies in one of the pits, which was full of wicked looking CB750 based racing sidecar outfits, including Brian's old outfit, which looks superb. The guys offered to take GZ for a hot lap of the circuit, but when they couldn't find a good place to secure him, Pete decided against it, the last thing that we'd want to do is lose GZ, that would be an absolute tragedy!

The really good news is that Brian can wiggle his toes! I got a little emotional when I saw this, while of course Brian is not getting too optimistic, it really is a good sign, and although he's still got months of rehab ahead of him, I reckon our prayers are working, and he's gonna come out of this OK.

Now Peter took a heap of pics which you guys will like, and he'll post them when he gets home tomorrow or the next day, but here's a couple we took with my camera.

The first pic is from left to right, Brian's mate Peter, "yours truly" with the fetching hat, and of course, Brian with GZ.

And this pic is of Brian's mate Peter again, Brian and GZ, and PeterCB750.

I only stayed at the island for a couple more hours, it was fcuking hot, I was getting burned to a crisp, and I was very concerned about what damage I'd done to the Triumph. Luckily it made the 100 mile return trip without incident, but it looks like I've got some repairs to do. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Great photos Terry and good to see GZ and the crew together, and especially Brian as well being able to get out to the track and enjoying himself.
It's all good stuff heading in the right direction.

G'day to Pete as well and can't wait fast enough to see some more photos.  8)
It was good talking to you yesterday morning Terry, even though we were about 4000 clicks apart.  ;D

Yeah mate, I blew the head gasket on the K1 on Saturday, and as it was so hot (around 100 deg F) yesterday I thought the Triumph would be a smart move, but as it turned out, I would have been better off with the Honda.

I rang Triumph Australia today to find out what they will do for me, but they were all "busy" and the receptionist said they'd call me back. Funny thing though, they didn't? I did some internet research last night and it doesn't look good, the gearbox might be buggered. Not good on a bike that hasn't had it's second service yet, methinks.  ::)

Hey Terry, was great to meet you after all these years! And Brian too of course.
Coupla top blokes and I enjoyed our brief time together. I'm sure we'll meet up again.
Sorry to hear the Trumpy problems might be deep inside - my mechanic mate that was with me reckoned it sounded like it would be a cv joint....but we'll see. Keep me posted on that, will be interested to hear how you go, and good luck.

Yes, the lizard lives. I've got lots of pics of him having a good time at Phillip Island, but haven't put them on the pooter yet, and then I'll have to downsize them for the these pages. Only just got back from the trip an hour ago, grumpy and knackered.
GZ had an interesting day today....he got totally fkn lost in Melb and learnt some new words, he is a crap navigator adding 2hrs to the trip, and then endured the trip to Sth Aus (some 900k's), and is currently perched on my desk here in Victor Harbor watching me type. He has amazing stamina - he never sleeps!
Next Sunday he'll be out on the 750 and 400 taking a look around the coast, and he might even get to have a coffee with us at the Meadows bakery. Routs, if you're reading this I will be in touch this week.
Mick - I'll give you a call and work out what to do after this coming weekend.
Pics to follow.
Peter.

OK, some pics of the lizard at The International Classic at Phillip Island Racing Circuit, Victoria, Sunday 29th Jan 2012.

Godzilla meets T-Rex

This is T-Rex's rolling wheel starter - it already had GZ'z pic and name on it!

Above the pits, with a view down the straight.

Watching the start of a race from trackside.

The view down the straight.

A couple of sandcasts that I just happened to trip over

GeeZus - they really ARE sandcasts....

More pics to follow in a few days when he hits the scenic roads of the Fleurieu Peninsula (pronounced Flu-re-o for all you illiterates, haha).
