I had a sheet metal shop shier the aluminum for me
I bought the casters and the heating element from home depot (1500 W) and the thermostat.
I had the Areo-space shop at Georgia Tech make the threaded plug (Odd ball threads)
that the element screwed in to, and welded everything up,
The material is 1/8th thick
I need to make a tray to sit over the element and a cover for the element and thermostat
but it worked great all weekend even when it was really cold
call me anytime Frank

Cough cough and clearing the dust from NOT
Doing anything with the bike.......
But the turbo and the gs1100 are going this week
Finaly
The last time the bike was up at the dyno
The top end was really lean and went from a
210 main to a 230 main and got the AF to 12.1
The needle was ok but lean just as it started on the mid range
Found a richer needle and that's in. So.... No more excuses

My business keeps me busy and I never get in s hurry to do anything
With my projects but I have to try and set time frames to finish them

Interesting thing about the gs1100 was that the first few runs
On the dyno it sounded like the clutch was slipping so Brian at Livingood motor sports
Ordered a new set of fibers and installed these and still had some slippage
Ordered stock plates and Barnett springs
Still slipping, not sure what to do. Started making phone calls to people that raced these bike
and the first thing to  check, and I didn't think about, (imagine that) was to make sure the pressure
Plate was not hitting the the hub and sure enough that was the problem
Added an extra steel plate and now it goes like stink.
Made some adjustments on the carbs so it's ready to go also
Oh yeah
I bought a bunch of racing parts for the 1100 motor
I threw in a lock up clutch just for the fun of it
Took it out today and everything is doing what it's suppose to do and there is no slipping with the extra steel plate but with the lock up there is NO slippage.
I'll will keep all posted and I promise that I won't be Christmas when the results are in

I used to race those motors in speedway sidecars for quite a while Jim.
If you run the locker with the standard bevel gear driving the clutch be careful.
The clutch basket can crack around the base.
I've had the whole unit come away and blow out the side of the motor.
Spectacular, but not to good for drive or the hip pocket. ;D
You can pick up straight cut drive gears for them.
Oh..........and if you know a good welder, we used to weld up the basket as well from memory. ;)

Cheers,
Brian

Hey Brian
The lock up was just a fun thing to try and I got a really good deal
(Complete clutch assembly with extended cover, springs, fiber plates)
And if my drag racing friends don't push to hard and you guys know who you are
It won't see Any trips down the strip
I will revert back to the stock set up soon and shelve the parts for another rainy day
Hope all is well with you brain and will talk soon

got it on the dyno and we are still having to go to larger mains
I thought we had this the first time but this is what I get for being just to damn busy
and not remembering what we did the first time
increasing jet size from a 230 to a 240 main
still lean and that's not good under boost

but hey
at least I got on the dyno and it still runs...............:)))

Jim I have not read through the entire build, but do you have a fuel pump? Are you not using the Zenith carb?

Yes on the fuel pump and it stays at 2.5 lbs under load and anything under full load its 3 lbs
I am using the Mikuni HSR42 flat slide

That should be fine. I have not worked with the Mikuni on a turbo, I have always liked and used the bendix.

We are still trying to get the carb worked in
And hold a steady 12.1 AF although Brian is leaning more to
11.1 AF. Then start to add boost and watch retard kick in
And hope we still have consestant AF. As soon as I (Brian and David)
Get it jetted I will let you know

How did it do on horsepower and torque, Jim? Did you get a graph? If so, please share. 8)

Scottly,

Jim probably hasn't seen your question, but I was there to observe.  The carb jetting was so lean, that I watched Brian screw the throttle open and the engine just didn't accelerate at all.  A/F ratio was showing about 15:1.  So to answer, no, there was no graph.  I'm sure when Jim receives the jets he ordered and installs them, then it's dyno time again.
I'm not as smart as I look, but I am pretty.

I went through the same thing the first time I put the FT on the dyno; it was so lean, I figured the sensor was bad, and spent two days researching, cleaning, and adjusting the sensor air-flow before yanking the stock muffler and inserting the probe directly into the open pipe.  :-[ :-[
