What size fittings did you use for the cooler?

got the bottom end buttoned up and everything sure moves nice
especially the shifting mechanism. I had the forks, the shaft and the drum all coated
so it should shift like a knife threw butter

I have new cam chain tensioners (1 stock and one from M3 racing)
I thought that the one from M3 would have the pin and 2 little rubbers to set it into the cases
but NOOOOO. and I cant find the stock rear tensioner so I might need to buy one off of e-bay or make some calls
other things to do before the pistons and top end start to go together

more to follow

The oil line fittings are for a 3/8 ID hose

Who did you use to coat the tranny parts?  Sounds like something I should try with my sidecar engine.  It's a pain to shift. :(

The mains and con rods bearings where done from a company in California called WPC
not sure about the company that did this as I had another race shop send all this out but I will
see if Brian will tell me where he did this and I will let you know

Thanks for the reminder Bill.  I knew they did pistons and rockers, I'll ask about tranny parts.

As my last post stated........I got a little nervous about they way it was shifting and split the cases again
to do a little investigating...........
because the trans was pulled apart for undercutting I checked to see if that was reassembled correctly and of course it was
all of the shifting forks are in the right order.........left, right, and center as marked
shifting drum can only go in one way
everything is good and buttoned up
Got the APE heavy duty cylinder studs in
clutch is reassembled with new OEM fiber plates and Barnett springs
pistons are in as well as the M3 tensioner (Thanks Bill for the lower pivot pins and rubbers) as well as the necessary O rings and stock front tensioner
as well as the base gasket

SO its starting to look like a motor

really nice build jim ,thanks for sharing .

in case its of any use , i used the stock head gasket on my 400/4 turbo , up to 15 psi and 85 bhp at 8500(when the clutch gave up) it was fine for 10k miles .never a problem .

as someone said earlier , its detonation that i feel blows gaskets ,and with your super stonko msd ignition ,this should be a easy thing to avoid .

heres looking forward to the next installment .
ps i'm guessing 150 bhp ..;-)
just do it .

Don't use the oil return sealing rubbers with the MLS gasket Jim. The pistons do not look like the are correct in their respective bores. The larger relief goes on the intake side and are spaced further apart than the exhaust valve reliefs. Dynoman has a good diagram on his website that will show you how it should look.

Although It's plain to see that the 1&2 and 3&4 pistons are in the wrong bores, I don't really think that because of the size of the reliefs that Jimmy has them in back to front.
As you look at the pictures, the reliefs on the inlet side are close on central to the center line of the piston where they should be. If they were to be reversed, the large reliefs would be well out of alignment with the inlet valves and the smaller ones would be in the center of the alignment, not where they should be for exhaust reliefs.
Let's remember that these are special pistons made by MTC for a CB750 turbo application and Jimmy did send them back to MTC to have them checked out.
I have seen pistons before that had larger exhaust reliefs and thought WTF.
The best way to check them out if they are not stamped which way is forward is to check the offset of the piston pins.
99% of piston have the pin offset towards the rear by anything from 1 to 3 or 4mm, very few pistons have a central pin.

Sam. ;)
