Exhaust restoration.
« on: May 25, 2006, 12:47:21 PM »
Well I decided to see what it would run to have my scrambler pipes restored and rechromed. Nu-Chrome sent me an email and it looks like it could be as much as 1200 bucks! Kind of what I expected since the restoration side would be labor intensive.

Has anyone else been through this process? what did it run them for cost?

Green550F - 1200 sounds far too much to me. If you can't get hold of a good used one i'd consider getting a quote to have it made from scratch - even that shouldn't exceed 1200 bucks. There's a company in Germany selling old exhaust systems as well as building pattern systems to customer spec. I'd take some pics, add some measurements and send a mail to them asking for a free estimate.
They sell at eBay (that's where I found them), here's the link: http://stores.ebay.de/Motorrad-Meister-Auspuffanlagen

Keep us informed.
