Someone to watch out for...

Hey Cammers,
From time to time, unfortunately, we all deal with someone via the Internet that is dishonest. I feel that as a professional business consultant and business professor that such dishonest people should be made public so that others hopefully will not be deceived.  First, a little background; I have been a member of the SOHC/4 community for about 8 years.  People on this board have visited me at my house, in my shop, and even the Easy Rider group stayed with me for 3 days here in New Orleans.  I have traveled to Europe and met other SOHC members and stayed at their house.  I can honestly say that I have never had any mis-dealings concerning Honda parts.  Recently, I bought $310 worth of vintage Triumph parts.  I found the guy on ebay, and he also sells parts for our beloved Honda SOHC/4 motorcycles.  That is why I am posting his information here and my story about him.

I bought a head light bucket from him via ebay.  While it was being sent, he and I exchanged several emails, and I ended up buying another $260 worth of parts from him (and paid immediately via Pay pal) before he put them on ebay.  The headlight bucket came in and was not as advertised, the mounting bolts were ripped off, the head light trim ring was scuffed, and the chrome was nowhere near “good condition”.  I emailed him this.  After an additional 2 weeks, he finally sent out the other $260 order of parts and forgot to include three items, totaling $125 (itemized).  After an additional 2 weeks of lies and deception, he finally refused to refund my money for the parts I paid for that he didn’t send.  His defense is that after four weeks of my frustration, that the reason he is not refunding any of my money is because I used two profane words in one email I sent him (I sent the email last night).  His solution is that I box everything up and send it back to him (and incur shipping costs).  I refuse to send back the only parts I have received form the guy, and although they aren’t in the condition he claimed, I can still use them, and will. I just want a refund for the parts he NEVER sent me, which I paid for.  It’s a shame that people are like this.  My friends on this forum know I am an honest guy.  I’ve sold parts on ebay and have had to refund money; it’s called “doing good business”.  I have never had problems with people selling Honda parts in the past – you really do meet the nicest people on Hondas!

The ebay name: 082596
Company name: Hard Core Cycles
Listed as being in AZ, but parts were finally shipped from TN

If for some reason the guy does decide to refund my money, I will post it here.  I don’t hang out on this site much; rather, I am on the old SOHC mailing list.  I am offing this information only for the purpose that others won’t be taken advantage of.  I know there are two sides to every story, but wouldn’t you want your money back for parts you never received?  Pretty simple, I think.  We’ve been through a lot down here, now I have to take $125 on the chin from this guy.  Karma will bite back, hard!  Please feel free to post this message on any other motorcycle forums, as he deals in used/new parts for most makers.

That sucks, thanks for the info,
and do file a dispute with Ebay
I had to do that once,
Bought a bike,{complete} and before i picked it up
the guy stripped parts off of it so I refused it....
luckily It was posted with pic's ......
{it took two months to resolve} but worth it,
to save someone else down the road
      from the same fate

Sorry to hear you got taken Bud, it happened to me back in my green days of ebay buying. You probably realize this now but ebay sellers that keep their feedback "private" are usually doing it to hide something...like nasty comments about their dealings or to hide shill bidding. I don't really understand why ebay has it as an option. And personally, I never bid on anything if the seller's feedback is below 99%.

These are the kind of guys I promise to ride out and kick thier ass-and I WILL. As a regular thing it usually ends up to be two good long distance rides a year, good excuse for touring. You would not believe the look on thier face when they realize they have a 285 LB 6'6" shadow that will follow them and make thier life hell until I get my money back.  ;D If they call the cops then I have all of my paperwork in hand. They usually tell them produce the parts or money or they will file a fraud by wire charge against them. Once I know I have the right guy, I have not yet had to use this one, but would take the time to follow him just to knock over his bike everywhere he parks it. I take no #$%* from anyone in this biz.

Rip me off and I WILL be on your doorstep and harass the #$%* out of anyone who knows you or you talk to. Before long they can't even get a soda or gas at the 7-11 ;D

We all know how much I threw a fit over $35 on the HSTA thing. Much less the $125 from the a-hole you bought from. After about $500 of damage on his bike or vehicle they will give up and see the point. This is the reason I say "NEVER BUY FROM A SCAB". They are not bikers of any sort nor will they ever be.

Scream and scream loudly until you have a real address, then pay him a visit. Make eBay close his account for BS contact info. If you paid via paypal, then file a fraud complaint.

Do you have a return addy or name for Tn. where they shipped from? That would be a good place to start if you are considering a fraud investigation, you could say something to the effect of a class action lawsuit or somesuch. These are the type that give us bikers a bad name, and I for one resent any implication that I am in any way affiliated with such scum. Unfortunately, most people not on this forum can't see how good of people we really are due to the blinders they put on from dealing with yahoos like the one who is trying to screw you over.

That was kind of ambiguous, I wasn't saying anyone here was saying that about me, I was talking about the general populous who group bikers as a class based on bad dealings with one or two wanna be bikers. Sorry, I hope that was understandable, I can't quite figure out a way to say it as clear as I would like :-[

Peace and Long Rides,
