A question for '76 cb750 owners.
« on: January 24, 2012, 09:44:35 pm »
I am finding it impossible to find the "turn signal/horn/headlight" assembly switch for the left handlebar of my '76 cb750. It seems this switch was made specific to 1976. According to everything I've found, this part is now "obsolete". My question to '76 owners: Have you successfully used switch assemblies from other years of cb750s on your '76 cb750? If not, have you found other solutions? I know there are universal switch assemblies out there but these universal switches do not integrate with the clutch lever like the stock version. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

AFAIK the left control is the same for 73-76.
Also the 550 used the same control I believe.

So yes, hello. I just did this on my '76 750F. Do you have an F bike or a K bike?

The LH switch for the 75/76 F is different from the 77/78 F (and K) switch in that the latter has four of the wires converging in a 4-prong plug, and three of the wires have female connectors. All of the wires are the same, except for the black/yellow wire on the 75/76 is a brown/red on the 77/78. Both of the LH switches have neutral safety switches on them as well - which are 2 wires that come out of the clutch perch. Spanner1 came over last night and cut off the plug and two of the female connectors and installed male bullet connectors (available from vintageconnectors.com). Now it will hook right up. Good luck!
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

Thanks to Spanner1, the wires on my newer switch now look like this.
