Which barrels?
« on: August 30, 2011, 12:48:43 PM »
Our HiPo 836 engine is using a "K" type cylinder head and "F2" cranckcases.

Which type of cylinder block ("F" or "K") would be best suited to the build? My preference is to go with the F2 barrels as the ones I have are in much better shape, (no broken fins, etc.).

Is there a definitive set of "mods" that are required to make "F2" barrels fit a "K" type head?

Pay attention to your oil drains, there is a combination that will fit together that will lead to a lot of regret later...

Bump!

Just getting to the point where I need to make a descision.

At the moment I have both F1 and F2 donor barrels "in stock", which will be internally modified so wear is not important, but the F1's are a bit rough cosmetically unlike the F2's which are in nice shape. Or should I get hold of some "K" barrels?

Thanks guys,

Nick

Reply #6 in this thread (Eng FAQ) from Mike should help clear it up.
