Starting a new career in Febuary!!
« on: January 26, 2012, 11:52:05 AM »
I have finally met one of the goals I set for me self a few years ago, that was to get into our fire dept rookie class.  This time I finally made it!!!  Now I should mention that I already work for the dept so I'm kind of a internal transfer, I attempted to get in once before but fell about 10 feet short.  So I have taken a lot of crap over the last few years since that failure (all in good fun though), so I got back in the gym, and made certian if I got a second chance that there would be no room for failure.  So This year I got my chance and posted a pretty repectable time for the physical test, so now I'm just riding out the next few weeks in the shop till rookie class starts.

I'm so freakin' excited, I know everyone dreams about being a firefighter, but now I actually get my chance to be one!  I never thought I'd actually be excited about going back to school, but I guess as we get older we change (sometimes for the better I guess ;D).  Anyway just thought I'd share what's been going on lately.

Thanks guys!  I will admit it's a bit unnerving at times to realize I'm venturing off into something I know NOTHING about, and at 31 I think I'm the oldest student by at least a decade! But I hope once school starts I'll fall into a nice rhythm.  It's gonna be 8 months of being a PAID professional student (as our division chief put it to me), gotta love the PAID part! ;D
