Is that MTC multi stage lock up clutch adjustable for progressive action? That's a real Nice One for some good times !

That is correct. The static springs control the initial launch and as the rpms build the arms come out to lock the clutch up more but underneath the heal of the arms are small inner springs that push against the arms to allow them to only become fully locked against the pressure plate as the rpms are in the upper range. Setting one of these things up has no specific formula. You just have to do it by trial and error until it works in the manner best ofr your combination. The larger static springs you see on the table were used in a car tire dragbike chassis. Obviously i'm not using those here but need soft, stock springs or even H2 triple springs so i get clutch slippage off the line to eliminate wheel spin or wheelies. The idea here is to throw the clutch lever away almost immediately and let the static springs and the multi stage lockup do the rest. I only want the clutch to lock up fully after the nitrous begins coming on in 2nd gear.

Xnavylfr(CHUCK)

The MIROCK series race at the ROCK is this weekend. Still working on the bike so hopefully i can get it done in time to race. If all goes well i intend to test it wednesday night at Darlington Draway. I did get it started and let it run for a brief while about 2am this morning. Didn't want to wake the wife up so i shut it down. The carbs were rich so when i get home tonight i'll lean them out to get my best tune up. The list is getting shorter but not short enough.

Will post time slips soon.

Will post a few more pics tonight as well.

Stay tuned.

It helps when your wife owns a dragbike herself- not too much complaining about the noise but i try not to push my luck to far. We live in the country so no problems with neighbors complaining.

Tuned the carbs more last night but still rich. It'll take a while to get them right but once its done.... gotta love those Lectrons.

Didn't take any pics- will try again tonight.

About ready for a pass down the track. I might sneak it out in the road to check the air shifter and shock action. Good think for me is i live in the country and most of the neighbors are livelong residents and friends. They're used to me testing bikes and cars out on the street from the time i could put a leg over one. I'm a bit older and wiser now so i minimize my exposure on the public roads to 60' launches and a few shifts. Will let you guys know what happens. I got the carbs tuned pretty much to satisfaction last night but have about 6 more items on my list to do before it gets rolled out of the shop and down the dragstrip. Wish me luck- i'll need it.

Here's the pics of the swingarm, The guy I got it from had it built for his DRAGGER KZ and he was going to build mounts for solid struts. From pivot point to axle is about 30 inches even though the tape shows 31. All three wheels are ENKEI cast 2 18" for rear and 1 19 for the front. The wheels will need new bearings installed, I have the cush drive rubbers but NOT the sprocket carrier. These wheels could be used on  other bikes with a little machine work!! AWESOME wheels for someone to use on a CAFE project!!!

Pics of bike, how did ya'll do...you beat Boo ;) Bill

Finally put the bike on the shop floor at 6:00am race day. We should have been pulling out of the yard at that time so i knew we would be late.  Loaded both bikes up and headed to the Rock. Got there in time for first round in all classes. Started the no bar bike up, idled fine but broke up when i revved it. Spent half the morning tuning the carbs (again) to get best plug color. Took car tire bike out to make 2nd time run pro ET to qualify for top sportsman- ran it on motor for an 8.50 ET. Next up was 8.88 class qualifying run so i prepped the no bar bike to run on motor only til it got some baseline settings before pumping it up on nitrous and rode to staging. Lanes were full so i knew it was going to be a great class for competition. Rolled in to the water box for the burn out but the bike was breaking up bad again. On faith i decided to make a pass anyway. Bike left not running even but still had a 1.65, 60 foot time. Busted up all the way down the track. First shift the bike nosed over- way too much kill time. Ended up with a 11.00 second time slip. Dang- that ain't good.

Came back to trailer and checked timing, made a minor adjustment. Retuned carbs- they were lean on a few cylinders. Scratched head cause the bike still wouldn't rev correctly. Made a few adjustments to the rear shock. Next pass bike broke up in box again and on the line. Left good but missed all the way down the track- still to much kill time. Had a 1.55, 60 foot and ran a 10.15. Getting better but can't get it to run right off idle.

Sunday morning, replaced plug wires with new, by passed a relay to the coils, retuned carbs again and put in new plugs. Shake down pass was the same as the other passes- still breaking up. Kill time better but not right. Bike wouldn't shift on past 4th gear- shut it down. Ran a 10.74. In the pits found the air shifter cylinder rod had come loose. Had activation error in on the Schnitz box. Cleared it- didn't turn the autoshift switch off. Eliminations came to soon. Bike broke up in box but would clear up at 3/4 throttle. I decided to leave hard so i could lock it sooner in hopes it would run better. Uhhh, blew the tire away fish tailing. Made first shift and i almost threw me over the handle bars, second shift was just as bad and on and on. Needless to say i lost the round.  Returned to pits to check kill time but realized i never rearmed the shift minder function- box didn't properly recognize the shift which caused the severe nose over. Oh well, new bike blues. At least it got from one end of the track to the next under power.

Will try another set of carbs and test again this weekend. Sorry i didn't have a positive report but i knew this was going to be my first test session. You've got to start some place.

Does it misfire on you? or is it a fuel mixer problem ? I know that electricals are usually the weakest link...with carbs next....but I've never set up a Drag bike...; I hope you get her sorted out and running clean and swift soon ! ;)

I've not ruled out electrical yet but feel its fuel related due to the characteristics of the miss. The coils are used but we checked the primary and secondary resistance- all within spec. The ignition controller is used but came off a running bike before it tore up the tranny. New wiring harness end to end. all new switches and relays. New plugs & wires were installed at the track. New batteries dropped shipped directly from the manufacturer.

Again, anything is possible. It seems to be fuel related based on my experience. Will find out tomorrow when i put the set off my super comp bike on the  8.88 bike. Took the 33CR out of the cabinet tonight to  verify the o-ring size as they were leaking from the fuel T when i took them off the 1200cc motor. Will order more from Sudco and try them at a later date.

Oh, Voodoo, i should have taken Donald up on his offer for the side mounted oil drain plug. I was putting the bike in the trailer to go home and bumped a tie down at the very rear of the trailer. It knocked the damn plug out along with a hunk of the oil pan. Took rags from 4 people to get all that $h!T up off the floor. Insult to injury brought on by ones own stupidity is sometimes a hard pill to swallow!!! Help APE- need low profile oil drain plug and filter cover!!!!.

Appreciate the pep talk. Not really down just venting a little. I fully agree with your statement though. Had lots of people looking at the bike and asking questions. It was the only old school bike in a sea of cookie cutters with plastic and aluminum-lol.

New builds always take time to sort out. I've been down this path many times. Patience is the key to success.

Stay tuned, i'll get it right.

Swapped carbs off my other dragbike yesterday. Cranked the bike up last night. Immediately identified a change- revs now with no hesistation or limitation.

The problem was the carbs. Lesson learned- don't let a freshly rebuilt set of Lectron carbs sit in a box for over 6 years without using them.

I'll box them up tomorrow and send them back to FBG for evaluation.

Hope to hit the dragstrip wednesday night with the loaner carbs to see what she do. Had to stiffen up the spring on the rear shock while it was in the shop too. Bike was squatting too much. Might have to put a higher rate spring on it if this doesn't work and get it revalved too.
