The Shafia trial didn't get a lot of press in the US so I am not surprised at the lack of comments here. Goodness knows the USofA have their own problems with Afghanistan and we have ours. But this one is a bit closer to home, isn't it?

The "news" here did not give, I thought, a good run down on the evidence.

But I do hope that the verdict is just. The defense will appeal. The crime is incomprehensible and reprehensible.

 I hope those 3 rot in jail a very long time,, and the message gets out. There is a certain people here on the WetCoast that also have committed honor killing.. if they want to be here, we got to get the mesage out that we wont tolerate that here..

I really shouldn't crank this up but a thought occurred to me minute ago, that as a free and democratic society hasn't our collective honour been diminished by these persons of ill repute, and if it's all right for them to avenge or kill in the name of honour why should Canada not have the same right for all that dishonour our free and democratic society as judged by legal process?

PS I do realize that if we just executed them, it would be over, I think what I'm hinting at is a position in the ROW that brings home to immigrants that if they don't want their outmoded mores and taboos used against them, that they should think before they revert to what happened in the "old" country. Sorry this is not a well formed and coherent thought.

must be difficult for young muslims , raised in the west but who's parents still want to bring them up in their traditional ways . there is no 'honour ' in these killings they are just senseless murders .

I have a couple of questions....who paid their lawyer.....and why do we have to keep them in jail for 25 years,why don't we ship them right away in their country,it cost a lot of money to keep them here in jail!
